Blind Items Revealed - Kindness

December 20, 2013

This height challenged comic actor with the very long career as a B list television and movie actor bought dinner for an entire restaurant two weeks ago. There were over 100 people in the place and paid for it all. When the people asked for the bill at the end of the night they were told it was taken care of but not by who.

Danny DeVito

  2. Generous, but perhaps that money could have gone to a better cause than people dining at a restaurant they could probably afford? That isn't saying he doesn't do that also. I just don't know.

  6. @caralw, he did something nice for other people, why not leave it at that? I'd hate to have someone else judge the worthiness of how I spend my money. I think it's better to look at what he did, not what he could have done instead. :)

  9. OT: Colbert was announced as Letterman's successor.

I love him, but will be interesting to see how he does out of character and in this format. Best of luck to him!

  15. As long as I never have to sleep with him, Danny DeVito can do whatever he wants.

  16. Just watched "Ruthless People" last night, hadn't seen it in a long time. What a great movie! DeVito and Midler (and everybody really) are hilarious!

  17. I love this. I work at a wonderful place that's pretty well known in my hometown and the owner does this every once in awhile on a slow day and doesn't tell anyone. I always think it's really sweet, because you never know how much it could mean to any of those people.

  18. Sammy Davis Jr. used to do this all the time after his Casino shows. He would go out and pay for a couple of hours of meals for everybody in the whole casino.

  19. We have no idea where he was eating. It could have been on location in a blue collar area and not necessarily a snooty place. The gesture was lovely nonetheless.

  21. I love this....even if those people could have afforded it, maybe then they went and did something nice for someone else.

  22. A. How do you know he wasn't in a diner filled with old people?
    B. Don't you buy presents for friends and family who can afford to buy their own shit?
    C. It's a nice thing to do. Leave it at that.

    1. You know, @di, I'm the first one to agree with that. It drives me nuts when others do it.

Then I see the $10 million Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra and I think...well, never mind what I think...
