Goonies 2 Is A Go

About two weeks ago a guy was walking through the Warner Brothers back lot and noticed a golf cart adorned with a logo that said Goonies 2. He Tweeted it out and since then, the people who noticed that Tweet have been wondering whether there was going to be a Goonies 2 or if it was just a nice tribute to the movie or an early April Fool's Day prank being prepared. Well, TMZ cornered Richard Donner and he told them there is definitely going to be a Goonies 2. Here is the thing. The first one really holds up even after all these years. People still like watching it. Sure, there were some things that could have been CGI'd to make them look more realistic, but I don't think the intention was to scare anyone to death. Would the second one have the now adults looking for where Willie's ship sailed off to?

  1. Corey Feldman lost the plot and Chunk became a looker. What time does to people.

    1. *Double take*

That IS Chunk. He is indeed looking good. Well spotted, @Violet!

  2. In other news

Numerous creative people submit their scripts only to be turned down by Hollywood powers that be for 'not being marketable'.

    And this is greenlit.

  3. Wow, this is great news! (for once).

  4. ....By numerous scripts I don't mean for this flop in the making, btw.
I just wanted to pop back in to say missbunny your puppy is ADORABLE!

  5. If you ever have 2 hours to waste, watch the commentary from the actors. .. that blonde chick is so bitter and Sean Astin, with his lord of the rings money just leaves half way through. Feldman is in top form. I think it's the 20 year anniversary edition.

  6. @leek I'm not sure it is good news. Why mess with a classic. Sure as the nose on my face, a remake will be a disaster. Imagine ET2? Just no.

  7. So tell me Enty, who is going to take over CDAN while you are off filming? ;0

  8. I've never seen this film. Have I missed out?

  9. I hope Corey's song makes the soundtrack. That would be nice!

  11. True, Violet - sequels do seem to spoil the storyline more often than not. (Will not mention Scooby-Doo)

  12. I always knew chicks dug Goonies, but I never knew how many had Sloth fantasies until I made my 6'3, 280lb, shaved head friend buy a Sloth t-shirt. At least 3 times he got laid based on that t-shirt alone.

99% chance of this sequel sucking.

  13. Now there is no need to bring Scoobs into this Leek :)
    Thank you for the restraint.

  14. I'll have to look it up, Bacon.

Frankly the DVD commentary sounds fun, as described by missbunny.

I love the idea of Sean Astin just blowing it of, as though the LOTR cheque came through.

And "the blonde girl"--who is definitely a young Martha Plimpton--can come across as bitter, sure, but she's an interesting actress, off screen as well as on. And if that wasn't enough, she must have extra anecdotes aplenty from being George's daughter and River's ex. Hmm...

  15. No problem Bacon, it's a sore subject for so many people (including me)

  16. It also has "Throw Momma from the train" Anne Ramsey in it
BONUS it is where the "Truffle Shuffle" came from.

Really, it's a couple of hours that wouldn't be wasted. Just grab some wine and popcorn and let your mind take a break.

Martha Plimpton is hilarious in Raising Hope.

    1. I used imbd so that I didn't call Sean Astin Samwise, but I just thought the blond chick lost her glasses, I didn't know she was noteworthy otherwise. ..I guess I was just too eager ;-)

    2. I was really just kidding, but I adore Martha, she's wicked smart and just a cool chick!

  19. Martha Plimpton's not the spawn of George. Her parents are Keith Carradine and Shelly Plimpton.

      @Megley
I always thought Martha was George 's daughter. Good to know.

  20. And Martha was interviewed about River Phoenix in the recent book, Last Night at the Viper Room.

  21. That's not at all how I remember the DVD commentary. Corey Feldman kept being a skeezy douche and Martha kept calling him out on it.

  22. @LucyDocDuck--that is because Corey Feldman is a skeezy douche.

  23. Word Bacon Ranch..Please refer to the Tori blind item.

As I never saw the first one I'm pretty certain I won't be watching this load of recycled poo either. Come on Hollywood, get off your ass and read all the good scripts out there and make something original. Sheesh, you lazy fucks.

  24. @Megley, Google is your friend only when you consult it? Why would I consult it when I was certain I was correct?

Turns out I was wrong, of course, ha! My bad.

  25. @violet i agree with you. i'm not so sure this is a good thing.

  26. I'm an '80's kid who has never seen GOONIES. (Please don't throw rotten fruit at me. Thanks!)

I loved Martha on "Raising Hope," among her other work. (PARENTHOOD, anyone?!) I am so sad that "RH" is over now! At least they got a finale, though; "My Name is Earl" didn't.

    And yes, she's a Carradine daughter. ;-)

    1. @AKM, you just murdered my heart. :(

I'm behind on my viewing by about 6 episodes but I ***love*** Raising Hope. Martha Plimpton and Garret Dillahunt are perfect together. And Cloris Leachman! Why oh why did they cancel? The show got two Emmy nominations, it deserved to live past four seasons! (Even if they did give that tool Wilmer Valdertoolarama a job...)

  30. Does this mean the other Enties are going to take over while Enty#1 reprises his "Chunk" role? I do so love the original Enty and will miss him dearly during his absence.

  31. i loved goonies as a kid and yeah, this sequel is gonna suck.

totally had no idea keith carradine is martha plimpton's dad.

  32. I went on my first date and saw Goonies (the date was a dbag) but I LOVED little inhaler sucking Corey Haim. Chunk has turned into a stud, good for him. If there is a remake, you can bet Hollywood will RUIN it!
