@Charlie you'd have to know of Avery to understand it. If rumors are true, he is heavily closeted but also public ally supports gay rights. He made his living as a pest and enforcer in the NHL so there's some sex appeal to the idea of bagging a "straight," unavailable jock.
He was BFFs with Andy Cohen, a bunch of rumors were around the last 2 years that they were dating, and then there was a coy response to the engagement rumors.
But maybe just a few days after that rumor hit twitter, Avery suddenly gets engaged to this random model. No more Andy/Sean and now no one knows what is what.
That all being said, I can totally see why being engaged helps him pull. He has the tantalizing allure of "is he gay or not?" and people tend to want someone unattainable, so yeah his hookup quantity has likely drastically increased. And Avery is douchetastic enough to brag about that. Anywhere. And everywhere.
He'll probs just toss her in the Hudson when/if he finally comes out.

He'd been involved with Sean for over a year and wanted Sean to be publicly by his side. Sean did not want to come out, but they did get engaged and told family/friends. That was as far as Sean was willing to compromise.
But supposedly that wasn't enough for Andy and he leaked their engagement to the press. He then played coy and his only response to requests to comment on the rumor was "you should ask Sean."
Sean answered by getting engaged to Hilary Rodan.

Also I just talked about it yesterday so I like to imagine some dapper film noir-ish Enty is wearing a pageboy cap with suspenders and sitting in front of his laptop stroking his goatee and saying "yes Riven, that's quite interesting, here's a little BI just for you."
@QueenAnne I completely agree with you. This is all rumor from "sources", with some support from twitter/IG postings by them. And even before Cohen there had been rumors following Avery for years.
But if Andy did drop the news of his engagement to force Avery out, that's not ok and I'm not surprised Avery reacted as he did (it's a pretty good F-U). I love that he speaks his mind and is a non-apologetic ally, but also refuses go be anyone's poster boy, not even for You Can Play (IF he is actually gay).
If all that is accurate, I feel somewhat bad for Andy Cohen getting his heart broken. Then again, he broke my heart when he broke BravoTV, so... poetic justice?
