Blind Items Revealed - Kindness - Memorial Day

Instead of a blind item in this position today, I am revealing a kindness that an actor did for some military personnel.

March 5, 2014

This foreign born B list mostly movie actor is an Academy Award winner/nominee and is loved by lots of women. Lots. Very attractive guy. He is also very generous. He was flying this past week and noticed a bunch of military people waiting to board his flight. He asked about first class seats for the personnel and our actor bought the four available first class seats and gave up the two he had. For the rest of the personnel that didn't fly first class he bought them unlimited drinks and bought them all food before they got on the plane. His total bill for everything was about $20K but the memories he provided for the troops will last a lifetime.

Michael Fassbender

  4. Lol @sandybrook. I've never seen anything he's been in and all I know about him is he is, ahem, gifted and now this. Not a bad combo.

  5. This was extremely nice and I wonder who's military it was. Fassbender isn't American is he? Do we assume it's American Military or was it some other? Just curious.

  6. What a sweet thing for him to do. Not only great memories for the troops but imagine what was going through the minds of the other people in coach when he came in and sat down :)

    2. I'll take a good cook over a big penis. Size is *not* everything!

    3. I prefer to believe in the kind of Utopia where one does not have to choose between the two, LowKey. But you are right, you know, ostensibly

    4. As always, TTM, you are the voice of reason! Why can't we have our cake and penis too?

  12. Charlie - for the above 2, I'll take on the cooking myself. Although I seem to remember you have a penchant for cooking yourself?

  13. Awwwww! so sweet of him. class act

  14. He's still a woman beater. Sean Penn gives to charity too and is also a great actor. Chris Brown beats women too but can dance and sing with the best. I don't know how to reconcile it all.

  15. Troops do remember these things forever too! Especially from a star.

After a deployment out of state, we met my husband and all flew home together, but couldn't get on the same flight because he was flying on orders and we weren't.

Our flight was horrible. Especially the last leg when one of my kids (at the last minute) asked to switch seats with me. I don't blame them, as I ended up sitting next to Jabba the Hut. Jabba fell asleep and half his hot sweaty body melted into my seat and me. To this day I can feel the grossness. He really needed two seats. Half of me was hot and the other half was cold. All of me was disgusted.

After we arrived at our home destination, we were defeatedly waiting for husbands arrival a few minutes later.

He came bounding down the stairs with the look of refreshed glee, "I was upgraded to first class!" And then he began to tell us his adventures...

I swear I heard him tell the kids he motorboated a super model that was sitting next to him, and that the buxom flight attendant gave him a massage and pedicure.

He still tells the tale of that upgrade, and it was done by the airline, no one famous.

  20. Are military people (of any country) allowed to drink alcohol if they are in uniform of any type?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Heck, yeah, they can!! You should see the sailors in NYC during fleet week!!

  22. He's not B list.

  23. @Lowkey, Fassie's dad is a chef (they own a hotel in Co. Kerry) if that helps? ;)

If it's the US military, then that is incredibly nice (it must be - I don't see him having occasion to accompany our lads back from DRC or Lebanon).

  24. Well, not all that surprising when you remember that he was in Band of Brothers.
    What a great gesture.

  26. What Sillygurl said.
Is everyone really going to ignore his record of domestic abuse?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ecua ya, without evidence, yes, yes I do plan to ignore it. It's an unsubstantiated rumour based on a request for a restraining order that was filed four or five years ago and removed a month later.

Sillygurl mentions Penn and Brown but this is different. Both were charged and found guilty (in Penn's case, he copped a plea).

The Fassbender allegation isn't remotely like this, it has far less substance to it (where are the hospital records for the broken nose, where are the witnesses?), so yes , I ignore it.

  27. FS,
No they are not allowed to drink in uniform when they are flying with orders and they have uniforms on. Some have to fly in civilian clothes to/from depending on if they are flying without a unit or dependant upon which country they may be having a layover at or final destination. Lots of variables. However, they are very much allowed to throw down in uniform for the USMC Birthday Ball, any Service Branch Ball, Dining In/Out, and other service related gatherings. Fun times will be had by most.

  28. I was once on a flight out to see my children. The plane was full of Marines that had been working for four months hard, no breaks, out in a bush village in the middle of NoWhere Alaska. The village was a dry village. Alcohol was banned, bringing it is illegal. Making it is illegal.
The Marines were dressed in civilian clothes and proceeded to get hammered! They were loud, obnoxious, and having fun. I didn't care. It was like having my boys back at home.
