  7. As much as I love Joel Mchale, I don't find him funny sometimes. I'm reading mixed reviews about his speech which is keeping me from watching it.

  8. I have never found him to be funny.

  9. Okay, this may not be the best place for book club talk this time as people might actually watch a Joel McHale video, even though he is dead to me. Back to Off Topic

Sugar! Whenever you get here, Seven suggested another movie for us to watch: The Men Who Stare At Goats

Sorry I missed the live streaming event on Saturday. I did watch Goats. Dakota was right to ream out her agent. "The townie girl who works in the cafeteria and can be had for $50" wasn't that memorable.

  11. Oh shit guys, I've heard that joke before. Did he steal it from someone else?! Are we about to have another Mencia & Dane Cook sticky fingers on the mic meltdown extravaganza? WHERE IS JOE ROGEN?! Meh, I'll look into this later but it's probably just a rehash from the soup

  12. He looked really bad always looking down forearm the paper I was wondering if he refuses to wear glasses and didn't want the teleprompter because he couldn't see.

    1. Butterkwup, someone who was there totally saw him all over another woman. Right until his wife showed up. Gross.

    2. NOOOOO!

But.... He was supposed to be the exception to the rule.

      I'm so sad now.

  15. Seems as if he was trying too hard to plug E! and it bombed horribly. It's only funny on The Soup because you expect stupid crass humor. E!pic Fail Joel.

  16. I can't stand the Correspondents Dinner.

The press should NEVER play nice with politicians.

There should always be a complete war between them.

A compliant media allowed the Iraq War to happen.

So basically fuck everyone who was at the dinner, in a nutshell.

  17. @Dingle I agree---not appropriate and very disrespectful. No wonder politicians get no respect these days.

  18. Anything that can stir up stagnant politicians is fine with me. Some missed, but, generally right on and funny.

  19. @Sandybrook - was wing it a pun? I can't tell. Do you watch Community?

  20. I like McHale on the Soup but that was one of the lamest featured guest speeches at the WHCD that I have ever seen.

  21. Politicians get no respect for a shit ton of reasons having nothing to do with the correspondents dinner.

  22. @Sherry-very true. Hello my mayor smokes crack. But these dinners just make it worse.

  23. @ Texas rose, I agree. I love Joel McHale and his stand up is really funny but this just wasn't.

  24. How come y'all haven't deemed this as racist, like when Sandy told a K-troll to find a black guy to fuck?

  25. I watched it, it was as Joel himself said, a rollercoaster. Parts were funny and parts were groan worthy. This one was groan worthy, the comment may be true, but it was the wrong room for a joke like that. His Christie fat jokes weren't funny either, but the "I'm investigating myself, the results are in, I did nothing wrong' bit was funny.

  26. I'm all for poking fun at politicians and love it when they make fun of themselves. But damn, make it funny! A comedian's sole purpose in his career is to make us laugh, so DO IT!

I agree, the media and politicians should not be mingling and playing footsies under the table together. Bad form for both. It leads to tap dancing in bathroom stalls in between courses, and that leads to killing stories that the public needs to know about.

  27. Yeah he wasn't funny. I was unimpressed

  30. @sandybrook, on Community he plays Jeff Winger so it made me wonder. :)
