Apparently the audience at the Dot To Dot Festival are not fans of Home Alone or songs about pizza because they booed off Macaulay Culkin and his band The Pizza Underground. Taking it a step further beyond booing they also tossed beer at the band. You know the band must have been bad if people were willing to throw away perfectly good beer like that. That reminds me of the scene in Better Off Dead when John Cusack is sitting in the back of a garbage truck after trying to commit suicide and the guys seeing him, say something like, "That's a shame. Throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that." I wonder if that scene would make it through editing now. That is a very underrated movie. Anyway, after just 15 minutes of playing, the band finally gave in and walked off the stage.

ReplyDeleteGOOD. They should not play festivals of any kind. Small clubs for anyone into whatever attention seeking that is. They cover Velvet Underground songs. Conveniently after Lou Reed has died. Doubt he would grant permission for these idiots.

ReplyDelete@FSP: I was at a small club show once of some hippie type band, and did the obligatory "SKYNYRD!" yell. They broke into a parody of AfroMan, "I was gonna play some Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I got high..." did an entire verse w/ some funny stuff.

They changed Lou Reed's "It's a Perfect Day" into "It's a Pizza Day" and for that, they deserve all the beer throwing ManU can launch.

ReplyDeleteI've always really sad for Macauley, as he seemed to just kind of dissolve when he passed childhood. And had such an unstable family life. Then his facial features significantly changed as he grew, and it must have been so hard for him to constantly hear and see in print mean comments about his face. If I were in his shoes, I'm sure i would've become a druggie too. He's been looking so much healthier lately and even smiles sometimes. Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Mac!

My cousin was a beautiful child, coloring and features similar to Macauley. Same thing happened to him. It's uncanny how much the two resemble each other now. Thin, gangly, long blond hair too. Only my cuz heard the mean comments from his mother.
Very sorry to hear about the suffering your cousin must have experienced. There could be nothing more damaging than a cruel mother! I hope your cousin has managed to thrive despite that pain. God bless!
