Your Turn

Melissa Joan Hart said in a recent interview that it is not appropriate for a woman her age (38) to wear a bikini in public. Do you agree?

    1. Strenuously disagree bitch. On both of your points. I love giant ass fatso chicks in bikinis. I like watching them walk. All that giggling.

And menopausal guys need love too, you know. Some of us maybe aren't looking too buff as we progress through our life cycle, but if the equipment still works (and it does, most of the time) then a little advertising is sometimes called for. Have a little compassion, will ya?

  3. I always to look to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, for my fashion questions.

Listen, when older dudes with hairy moobs stop jogging past me shirtless, then we can start a conversation about appropriate attire for 38 year old women.

    1. She should have made it personal such as I don't feel comfortable in a bikini at 38. That would have got a totally different reaction and would have been more accurate. But she didn't. One part wants to tell her to deal with the fallout and the other wants t cut her a break. Hmmm...Witch will it be? Hee! I'm too punny today.

  4. If you're in decent shape and are very self-confident, go for it! Helen Mirren was rocking one a few years ago in her 60s, and she looked great! It's really more a matter of how you feel wearing one, so if Melissa doesn't feel right in one, she shouldn't wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  5. It may not be appropriate but if I had a great body, I would do it.

    ReplyDelete
  6. If you got the body for it, the age don't matter.

  8. Wear what you want. But oh yes, I will secretly be judging you. I wouldn't personally, despite my lithe gym toned body. (Joking: 3 children take their toll no matter how many hours I spend running.)

  9. If you got the body, rock it. Otherwise for the sake of humanity, please dress appropriatly (includes you guys as well).

  10. On the beach yes. At a club in Vegas etc. NO!

  11. Depends on your shape and what you are comfortable:
    wearing
    subjecting everyone else to

Agree Discobitch about the men in speedos.
Why is it the ones you want to see in speedos wear boxer type suits?

I'm sure guys feel the same way though.

  12. 60 year olds wear bikinis on my beach. Nothing wrong with her wearing one if she is fit and confident in her body rocking one.

  14. Age has nothing to do with it. See Jen A and JLo as examples. . She's an idiot.

  15. If a woman has a good enough body to wear a bikini, I say wear the bikini. With that said, there are some places that I think are inappropriate to where a bikini, even if you have a great figure; a private country club being one. However, if you go to an island or the beach for vacation, wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Inappropriate?! You wear what you want in a free country!

    ReplyDelete
  17. agree with others above: if you take care of yourself, then age is not an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  18. lol @frenchgirl, free country as long as you have all the mandated licenses and permits.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Great point nury.
After all, if MJH ruled the fashion world, Stephanie Seymour's son would have reason to ever go to the beach again.

  20. Age has nothing to do with it. If you can rock a bikini at 55, more power to ya. If you're 18 and don't have the goods, it's a bad look.

    ReplyDelete
  21. She's known for being a snarky ass.

    ReplyDelete
  22. No, if you have the body go for it

    ReplyDelete
  23. Helen Miren looks great in a Bikini and she's in her 60's. It's not age... if you got it, flaunt it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Melissa Joan Hart thinks she's relevant. Do you agree?

    ReplyDelete
  25. There comes a time, but I don't think it is 38. It really depends on the shape you are in. I see 20 year olds who should not be in a bikini!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Refer to Helen Mirren looking stunning in bikini at whatever age she is.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @evieshackles, sorry, I missed your comment

    ReplyDelete
  28. "Not appropriate"?

What's not appropriate? Wrinkles, stretch marks, sagging skin, cellulite, liver spots, and other imperfections?

Oh, honey, we're all getting older. Just say "fuck it" and do you.

It's a shame she feels like she needs to protect other peoples' eyeballs from what she looks like in a two-piece. She should wear what she is comfortable in.

Then again, if every time I put on a swimsuit paps were jumping out of the bushes and I ran the risk of ending up on the cover of "Worst Beach Bodies", I might feel differently.

  29. No worries. Here's Miren in a bikini 68YO

  32. Didn't she appear in a mag not long ago wearing a bikini after losing weight. Explain that clarissa

    ReplyDelete
  33. Totally agree NomNom83! Life's too short to worry what others think.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It's inappropriate for her to wear a bikini at any age.

    ReplyDelete
  35. If I looked like her id stick to one pieces, hefty bags, or staying indoors and working that transculent skin she's got

    ReplyDelete
  36. Guess I'm in a mood like sugar
But I'm also 42, just had a kid, live in Miami and rock a bikini daily...
    Bugger off Sabrina

  37. My mom's 56 and she does and can wear a bikini. She's got incredible legs and is very slender, so it works for her. For me at 22, I have a very large chest and a butt I'm not totally in love with, so I don't wear skimpy suits. I like the pinup-style one pieces anyway, because they give me a great silhouette and really can't droop or ride up. It's up to the person and their style or comfort, not others.

  38. Evil Twat is just looking to get noticed! Wasn't this trick last year on People magazine in a bikini for losing weight?!?! Take your racist ass home and shut it Sabrina!

My thoughts exactly!!! Do whatever you want on the beach, but dear God, don't bring it into the city/public dwelling.

  40. In a world where a few clueless women wear see through leggings with no underwear to the grocery store, MJH in a bikini would be a relief.

    ReplyDelete
  41. MJH needs to wear a onesie to hide her tummy tuck and lipo scars.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Who cares? There's no judgment at the nude beach! Big, small, tall, short - it's all the same.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow what's wrong with her self esteem that she cares what others do? I think it's rude for anyone to have too much hanging out but since that's subjective I only judge if the person is being obnoxious about it (even though I shouldn't judge!) but really when I see any woman especially overweight ones with the balls to wear a bikini in public having fun, I'm so happy for them.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I realy think all her not so nice comments lately about other celebs and now this say more about her attracting not good attention to herself. I think her being so openly critical of others shows she's not happy with something in her life and I hope she fixes it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I have never felt comfortable in bikini at any size. I want to swim, ride waves and mb play ball or dig for seashells without worrying about my privates popping out. But thats just me if you look good and feel comfortable, do what u want. When I see someone in a bikini who clearly shld not be , i think two things:1) omg! Thats so unflattering, how cld she do that to herself? And 2) god bless her, she doesnt care what anyone thinks!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think you should wear what you want at any age. If you always live for other people you will never be truly happy.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm with everyone that says wear what you want. I don't care if you are a beached whale, if you feel good in what you wearing more power to ya. Lord knows I've seen some scary-ass looking guys in way too tiny speedos, but no one seems to make it a point to publicly condemn them...MJH just needs to go the fuck on.

If you've got the body for it...wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Simeon here mentioned eddy Murphy's ex as an example of hotness, she is hot!!!! And it's been reported she knows how to work a strap on, I would definitely line up at her door

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wow! 38 is new age for SS? Wear what u want if it makes u feel good, that's all that matters... MJH needs a stylist so she needs to zip it & worry about her own style!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh! And MJH can just go hide under a kaftan inside a whale.

    ReplyDelete
  52. She is just conservative. Each to their own. I enjoy laughing at big whales in string bikinis. Better than cable tv! Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  53. It depends on the size of the bikini and the fitness of the body inside the bikini.

When I was 38, I wouldn't have worn a bikini. Heck, when I was 28 and had the best body of my life, I wouldn't have worn a bikini. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with that level of exposure.

    To each her own.

    ReplyDelete
  54. If you look good in a bikini, go ahead. Age matters not.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 38 is random number to cut bikinis out... But I does anyone actually want to see her in a bikini ?

I don't, she would have to pay me to lool

    ReplyDelete
  56. Lol, " explain that Clarissa" she is ridiculous. Do you. Different places have different thresholds of hotness. If your feelin it, do it. I might stare at you, but you'll never know.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wasn't she just on a cover in a bikini?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Excuse me???? Hell no. Sure, when you look as gross as Melissa it's inappropriate and embarrassing...but not when you look like Jenny McCarthy, Cameron Diaz,Christie Brinkley. I say you bikini all the way. Also, it may not be as attractive after a woman has had children, because of possible stretch marks...but who cares. You can still look fabulous in a bikini.

Melissa is a jealous pig with a wonky eye.

shit i only have ten more years to wear a bikini! going to get one on starting now

if youre in shape who cares

    ReplyDelete
  61. I think she's just conservative and that this was most likely (like lots of others here) taken out of context.
Agreed..You look good and feel confident then rock that bikini. You looking like Shamu invest in a good one piece and a cover up.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Bikini's are okay for those who are comfortable wearing them. She really doesn't have the cred to speak for all women.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @SEVEN speaking of Helen Mirren, did you see that Miss Orphan Black is going to play her in an upcoming biopic?? It was on Nerdist :)

BTW I haven't worn a bikini since 1983 but I sure as hell could not give two craps if anyone else old, obese, skinny, big moobed or not does.

    ReplyDelete
  64. On the beach, sure.
    In church, perhaps not.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Fuck that! I bust my ass in CrossFit just so I CAN get this 43 yr old ass into one! Thank you very much!

    ReplyDelete
  66. @Seven I know right? They had a pic of Tatiana against a young Helen and the resemblance is remarkable...

I'm up to ep 3 of season one thanks to your avatar and loving it! Mr Mae though, not so much....he's still in deep mourning for Breaking Bad...

  67. Correction, Tatiana is playing the younger version of Mirren's character in a film about a Jewish woman on a mission to rescue 5 Klimt paintings from the Nazis...

  69. The thing I hate about Bikinis is using them to falsely advertise. Say yer at a motorcycle event, and they got a Bikini Bike Wash going on. Walk over to check the broads out, before deciding whether or not to drop the $10, and the broad has shorts on. WTF? I seen 1 where they had white t shirts on over the bikini top too. WTF??!!?? PASS.

  70. I enjoy looking at people that I think look attractive (not in a creepy way, just in an 'appreciating the human form' way), but I've seen people that are beautiful so ashamed of their body that it makes it impossible to be comfortable around them - other people that have a confidence that makes them hot regardless of being less prima facie beautiful to me.

Tl; dr - attitude is what makes 'it' work!
