Blind Items Revealed

May 14, 2014

Is there a word for a male diva? Does miva sound too much like mulva? Why yes, that is the second Seinfeld reference today. Too much Crackle. I don't know how to describe this A list mostly television actor. Sure, people have called him a lot of things during his career, and he has gone through lots and lots of women in a very public way, but no one has called him a miva. You would think that after his crash and burn from A+ list mostly movie actor to a thank you for the role in a made for tv movie that he would be grateful and treat people he works with well. Not so. When he got a break that rescued him from Lifetime oblivion he responded by treating all the people he worked with like crud and tried to make it clear that the show would fail without him. He was a nice piece to the show, but his head was way bigger than his talent. No one liked him and when the show ended, he was the one cast member who didn't get a going away gift from the crew. That attitude sent him into a second exile until he was given one more chance by another producer who owed the actor a favor from back in the day. The producer put our actor in the middle of a show that was already doing well and our actor immediately took over like he was the star that every viewer came to see even before any of his shows aired. Almost immediately the entire cast and crew were plotting his demise but were thwarted by the producer who owed the favor. Must have been a big favor. With the cast and crew threatening to quit though en masse, the producer finally caved and our actor was shown the door. I bet Tori Spelling could use a new co-star soon.

Rob Lowe

  12. Yep. West wing was first then Parks. He honestly believed his WW character should have been the focus of the show.

  13. How about as the one Brothers and Sisters before Parks?

  14. He does seem to disappear for extended periods.

  17. Was this West Wing? Or Parks and Recreation?
He left west wing in a really divaish way, wanted more money and behaved like the west wing would not be the same without him.

  20. But Derek! Regardless of what this reveal stipulated, you will ALWAYS be OUR favorite MIVA!!!!

Happy Fourth of July, CDaN!!!! <3

  21. Actually, West Wing was initially supposed to have been written from the perspective of Rob's character. After Martin Sheen became involved, the storyline shifted. I don't blame RL for being snippy.

But being an asshole on Parks and Rec is uncalled for.

  22. Why are all my crushes ruining themselves for me? Whyyyyyyyyyy?

That goes for you too Johnny Depp. In the naughty corner with all of you (and Kiefer Sutherland as well)

  23. I think his career also took a huge hit with that sex tape scandal in 1988 before the internet and before it was fashionable to have a sex tape because it helped your career.

  24. A texas rose: That's because one of the girls was only 16 in that video. Rob was lucky he wasn't charged with statutory.

    1. Studio54- good point. I think there was also another tape(or just more sex on stolen tape) that had him and a buddy having sex with a girl so a little mfm action.

  25. The nicest thing I can say about him is that he was kind of interesting in Candelabra. I wonder how he got that job.

That being said, I found Parks and Rec unwatchable after he joined the cast.

    Great link, Erik.

    is this the matrix?

  29. He's a well known asshole but his book was ok.

  30. I actually loved his Parks and Rec character -- in small doses. When there was too much Chris, I wasn't as into him.

It's a shame Rashida Jones left, though. That was a show that needed a "straight man" and while Ben can fill that role, it was nice having a female voice of reason on a show to ground things.

  31. My sister saw Lowe in action at a local bar when he was there for a celebrity sports tournament, about 30 years ago and she said what a douchebag except we didn't use the term douchebag then. Trying to remember if that was the same celebrity function where Shannon Doherty impressed no one.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rashida Jones is having a show of her own on TBS, and she's done with playing the female voice of reason, as she's basically a female Frank Drebin on a goofy Police Squad/Get Smart cop show.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lowe was wonderful in Behind the Candelabra. His character from that should get his own show a la Better Call Saul. ;)

  34. Ray you literally responded perfectly!

  35. He had bit part in the Austin Powers..in fact he seems like a modern Robert Wagner..maybe he'll get a show like Hart to Hart..also reminds me of Pierce Brosnan.

  38. I'm just catching up on these (lost power in the storm on reveal day!). Did anyone read his first book? I admit I did - so self serving. I can't believe there hasn't been a blind item about him cheating. After 100s of women when he was single, there's no way I believe he settled down and became Mr Faithful.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Definitely Brothers/Sisters and Parks/Rec. He left West Wing early on.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know his behaviour is shameful because Sally Field has said as much in the press. When asked about his diva antics on Brothers and Sisters, she wasn't all that vague.

  41. Bunch of BS.
Rob Lowe was not on The West Wing or Brothers and Sisters when it ended.
Why would he have received a gift at the end??
