Glee Star Becca Tobin's Boyfriend Found Dead In Hotel Room

When a 35 year old man dies in a hotel room after a night partying, it is never usually by natural causes. Yesterday afternoon a maid in Philadelphia found the body of Matt Bendik, a nightclub owner and the boyfriend of Glee star Becca Tobin. Apparently the two had been partying on Wednesday night and at some point on Thursday a hotel maid found the body. No one knows where Becca was when the maid found the body. Philadelphia police are calling the death "sudden," but have released no other information. This one is especially strange because Becca and Matt went back to the hotel together, but she left him? Did he do something to himself after she left? Did she do something to him? Was she scared and left? His friends say he is not much of a partier, despite owning several nightclubs. Sunday marks the one year anniversary of Cory Monteith's death.

    1. BTW, every friend says " they weren't much of a partier" in an unattended death. Either that or " they were trying So hard to stop...."
Either way, it's sad as Hell.

    2. He really wasn't a big partier. And unlike all the news reports he was 31.

    1. He was there on a business trip alone and she wasn't there. Apparently, the autopsy did not provide the cause of death so they are waiting for the toxicology report. I'm sure we all know what that means. :(

  22. Glee is returning for one more, shortened, season. Apparently, its 13 episodes to wrap it up, not even a full 22 ep season. And then they will all be gone from our collective consciousness. I don't even think we'll hear much from Darren Criss.

Becca Tobin wasn't a 'star'. She was part of the new cast of students after the original cast graduated. Only hardcore Glee fans knew who they were.

  23. I guess the Enty's use the word "star" to pretty much describe anyone now a days.

  24. So where was she??

  25. Gayeld, after hearing their "rendition" of the classic (and original) power ballad, "Beth", I'm surprised the cast hasn't been attacked by fans of songs that they ruin. I come back to "Beth" because I know that song in and out. The Peter Criss original had soul and feeling, you could feel what he was going through at the time in his life.

(and no, the song wasn't written for his wife as many believe, it was written about the wife of the guitar player in his old band Chelsea named Becky who used to continuously call during band practices to see when he was coming home. The name in the song was changed to Beth from Beck because Paul and Gene asked why he was singing a love song to Jeff Beck lol)

Pete's marriage was falling apart, the albums they had released hadn't sold as well as everyone had hoped (besides ALIVE!) and there was no guarantee that they'd get to do another album if Destroyer wasn't a hit. You can hear that (for lack of a better term) "sadness" or "despair", as he sings the song. On top of that, Gene and Paul didn't want the song on the album since it was so vastly different than anything else they had recorded. Luckily, the bands manager, Bill Aucoin, loved it and insisted it was to be on the album.

When it was released, it wa put on the "B" side of the single for "Detroit Rock City". However, a music director from a station in Ontario was nagged about playing "Beth" instead on the air by her daughter. Once that Ontario station started playing it others followed suit and suddenly "Beth" was a hit. They re-released the single with "Beth" now the "A" side and "Detroit Rock City" the "B" side. It became KISS' biggest selling single (Until "I Was Made For Loving You" was released three years later) and went gold. KISS presented a gold record award to the music director's daughter since she was to thank for the success of the song. It also helped push sales of the Destroyer album which was the first step in KISS becoming the biggest act in rock in the late '70s. So for that reason, it's a very important song to KISS fans and music in general.

The Glee version stripped all the soul from it. They turned it into a normal, cut and paste, autotuned ballad sang by a bunch of pretty boys. In short, they tried to make it a boy band song. Glee does that with too many classic songs, showing no respect to the original artists or what the songs might mean to people. It's fine to preform a song that was originally done with autotune and a dance club beat as a song with autotune and a club beat but they too often take classic songs and ruin them by trying to make them into hip hop, dance music when it was originally done as say an acoustic protest song.

  28. Talks Too Much: It would be highly illogical for me to be this "Rowdy" since the being would be a "Troll" or "Very Stupid" and not a term of endearment such as "boo", correct?

  29. Meanie, please excuse my verbosity. While attempting to relay the emotions provided by the song preformed originally by the musical group KISS compared to the soulless rendition of the same song by the cast of the television program "Glee", I perhaps expelled too much energy giving the background of the creation of and the immediate effects of the song in question. Please forgive me for my transgression, I shall attempt to shorten my comments as to avoid a, as the term is, "wall of text". Ironically, by writing this comment promising to abstain from writing these so called "walls of text" I have indeed created a "wall of text". Quite humorous, don't you think?

  31. I don't know when "party" became a euphemism for getting high and fucked up, which I don't know if this is the case in this death.

John Belushi and all the rest were getting high. Not fucking partying. Partying in my day didn't lead to a body being found stiff in a hotel bed. IJS

  32. Bubbles, you have caused a rare moment of emotion to wscape from my circuitry. By being named "Bubbles" you have brought to mind a female that I felt the emotion called "love" for many cycles prior who was nicknamed Bubbles by all, yet "Curley" by me for not only her hair but also the term used by Ace Frehley in the movies "KISS Meets The Phantoms" which the two of us watched while she laughed uncontrollably every time he used the term. I do not feel anger for this however. I feel conflicted as if a piece of my spark has become tainted and has been removed, while I realize logically that the tainted piece of the spark needed to be removed as to not infect the whole of my spark, I cannot help but feel that the spark is now incomplete.
