Blind Item #7

This former A+ list mostly movie comic actor who got his start on television and had a disastrous recent return to television has spent the past month in rehab for addiction to pills and booze. This marks his fifth trip to rehab in the past decade.

  5. Likely Martin, sadly. Who is Matt Perry?

  6. Tim Allen is another possibility

  7. I thought Chandler too. Hope not. Addiction is a bitch!

  8. Matthew Perry would have to be mostly TV. Sadly the description fits Robin Williams but Enty wouldn't go there I hope. Plus it sounds like it's happening right now.

  9. Sadly had Robin Williams not died he would be my guess. Still grieving.

  10. If it was Matthew Perry, the BI would say something about his outspokenness about this issue (i.e. his talk-show argument with that British guy about addiction, his "mentoring" of other H'wood actors, etc.) and his very public battle over the years.

That's why I'd go with Martin on this one, but maybe I'm just giving today's Enty too much credit for being thorough.

  11. Chevy Chase is a great guess.

  12. Jim Carry fits a lot of these clues but he has not done any tv aside from guest roles on very successful shows. Matt Perry was never Mostly Movie and never A+. Martin Lawrence may have reached A status during the "Big Momma" movies but I thought his issues were mental rather than drugs.

  13. Martin Lawrence is currently promoting Bad Boys 3, been making appearances. (Doesn't mean he didn't suddenly go to rehab, but it would have to be as of yesterday.)

  14. Give Martin Lawrence the benefit of the doubt. He dehydrates easily when he overexerts himself exercising. Sure he's jogging the wrong way in the middle of a busy highway wearing a hot-pocket of a jogging suit, but to each his own.

  15. I'll go with Chevy even though Community wasn't disastrous so much as contentious from his end. Sadly my mind also went straight to Robin when reading this.

  16. Um, Michael: then how do you classify In Living Color? Carrey was a cast member, and even starred in the TV movie "Doing Time on Maple Drive." Carrey actually helped make ILC a successful tv show.
One of us is wrong about Carrey not doing any tv.

  17. So what was carreys recent disastrous tv show?

  18. Totally missed the mostly movie thing… Maybe someone from SNL?
But you're absolutely right this does sound like Robin. Eeek, lets hope we aren't going there. Man that is still just devastating. It's gonna take a while to get over this one for sure.

  19. Chevy Chase's stint on Community was disastrous until the end - he was actually very good in it but then started acting like a major asshole towards everyone - at least that was the impression I got

Matthew Perry definitely not mostly movie

Martin Lawrence is currently starring in "Partners" with Kelsey Grammer and will be filming Bad Boys 3 soon

Has anyone seen this show to confirm it is indeed disastrous?

  20. Cristian Slater started on television and his show Mind Games was a disaster this past spring. He was a child actor and has had problems in the past with the booze. Heathers would be considered a dark comedy, but not sure he would qualify as a comic actor.

  21. It screams Robin Williams but why would they go there now?

  22. I think it intentionally screams Robin Williams, only Enty can explain why.

Martin Lawrence's show with Kelsey Grammer only lasted 8 episodes on FX. Grammer got good reviews, Lawrence did not.

Lawrence was on Conan last week, talking about the new Bad Boys movie in development. Conan made a point of saying how good he looked. Maybe he was helping out a old pal from stand-up days.

  23. This had better not be Robin Williams, Enties. TOO SOON.

  24. I think Billy Crystal's tribute at the Emmy's will give us closure. At least I hope it does.
