Josh Gracin Put On 5150 Hold

It was a scary hectic day yesterday for the family of American Idol Season 2 finalist Josh Gracin. The former Marine turned singer posted what his friends and family and fans thought was a suicide note to his Facebook page. One of his family members called the police who went to the singer's house. There they found his wife who Josh had mentioned in his post. He said that he loved her for 17 years and had made mistakes and admitted them and that she turned her back on him when he needed her most. Police called Josh from the house and while he was on is way home intercepted him and had him follow them to the hospital where doctors placed him on a 5150 hold. This story could have been so much worse than it turned out to be. Thankfully someone took the time to call police and the police acted quickly.

  1. I was JUST thinking about him the other day. I know he had at least one hit country song that I remember, but that was a few years ago right after Idol. So sad, glad he is getting some help and hopefully will emerge from this stronger.

  2. Same here Molly, odd. I was thinking about the songs I could appreciate that AI singers had. I really dig Stay with me (Brass bed) for some reason.

Hope this isn't a nutso case.

  3. Yes he has several good songs, actually, and is pretty talented. He has young kids. I hope he gets help. Too much darkness and depression in this world. :(

Josh Gracin, who competed on season two of the Fox show, left a disturbing note on his Facebook page on Aug. 14 (screen-grabbed here on Taste of Country), in which he wrote, "Please remember me as someone who gave his all in music" and "pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me."

No sooner did the word start to spread on social media did the police show up to his home and confirm that he did not commit suicide. Gracin's manager later tweeted from his handle, "Josh is safe & with his family now. I promise to update soon."

  5. In this case I agree with Enty. If the man posted his intent to commit suicide on Facebook, chances are good that what he wanted was attention (or help, depending on your point of view) and not actually to kill himself. People who are seriously planning to suicide usually don't post their intention to social media or even speak of it to others. They simply do it.

  7. I have a relative who often posts on Facebook when they are feeling dark and suicidal and asks that people talk to him to make him feel better and worth something. This behavior can be a sign of mental illness even if the intent is not to kill yourself that day, but you could be testing the waters to see if anyone would give a damn if you did. It can be used to manipulate people who care about you into taking action or paying attention to you, even if they have been avoiding you for good reason. Whatever the cause of this behavior, I hope he gets help and doesn't continue to subject people who love him to this, at the very least, and finds a reason to live again at best.

  8. If authentic on his part, I hope he's receiving the help he needs.

But for reason - it smells funky to me. More like a sick stupid attempt to get media attention. Mimicking a suicide attempt on the heels of the RW situation? With a vague enough post that doesn't clearly show suicidal thoughts/actions.

    Hm

  10. These AI floaters need to be flushed. AI has made the low standards of pop music much worse.

  12. He spilled his bad behavior to his wife and basically got mad because she was angry and probably didn't accept his apology. So he's saying she's at fault. He could have kept it to himself and/or talked to a therapist. He's acting like a victim. He got it off his chest to feel better and it made her feel bad. I battle depression every single day. I've even attempted suicide as a teen. I don't believe that in my quest to survive that I need to hurt someone else in order to feel better. Josh is full of shit IMO.

  13. Weird. My friend hooked up with him after one of his casino concerts. It was right after AI but he was definitely married. No protection...yuck. She said it was very obvious he messed around on his wife a lot.
