Katharine McPhee's Husband Says She Cheated

Katharine McPhee was hoping her soon to be ex-husband Nick Cokas was going to play nice and pretend the couple was separated when she was publicly caught cheating with the director of Smash. In her divorce documents she listed a date of separation that would have put her in the clear. Her husband filed his own documents though and says the date of separation was actually a year later and he can easily prove it with e-mails and texts and other evidence which means that Katharine is probably going to just not even respond publicly. She wants it all in the past. The only way it will be brought up is if there is a trial to determine when the pair did separate. At stake? Some Smash money that Nick probably wants a piece of and whatever other money Katharine earned in that year of dispute. Nick is also asking for spousal support.

  3. She's clearly a cheating bint. But spousal support in this day and age? With no children involved? Get a grip man.

  4. I though she married him for his money and thought he was old. Huh.

  5. What's odd is I really don't know who she is except for the fact that the only time I ever see her name in print is when cheating/adultery is being discussed.

Have no idea who she is or what she's done. Is she a celebrity? If so, then for what? Who is this floozy and why do we care if she's an adulterer?

  7. Doesn't she only marry/fuck for money and fame? I wonder what this guy had to offer before she found someone else's husband so alluring.

  8. She was top 2 on AI, and then she was the star of Smash, the tv show. She's got a new show this fall I think.

  9. I respectfully disagree @Violet. What's good for one is good for another. But again, he's just putting it in his request to keep it an option & that's why the real date of separation's important. If he feels break-down of marriage was caused by her infidelities,he needs his paper-trail.He's using his leverage as he should rather than be her door mat. He's stating the truth& it's potential consequences(Especially now that she's doing it again!!)

  11. agreed

I would say the same if it were the other way around

  12. The request for spousal support also turned me off. Was Katherine's brazen cheating so bad that it totally robbed him of his dignity?

  13. Ahh I see now, thanks Reno. I never watched AI. Never watched Smash, so it makes sense I have no idea who she is. Too bad that she's known for sleeping around instead of her tv work. Pity.

    we should end spousal support

  15. The only time a spouse should receive support is if they are somehow incapacitated and unable to work to sustain a living following a divorce. Not that I care one way or the other, but she could have moved out of their shared home on the date she declared, but they didn't file for legal separation until the date he declared.

  16. My two cents on spousal support: it makes sense to me when the person requesting the support has forgone their career to manage the home, raise the children, or to move around to support their spouse's career. If you've been out of the workforce for many years, it's extremely difficult to just jump back in and earn a decent wage.

I say this as the wife of a federal employee who stayed home with kids and moved 10 times in 20 years. Thank God, my marriage is great, but I have watched too many collegues go down this road. When Mister Federal Agent finds a younger model, the first wife, mother of his kids, deserves half of everything they acquired over the course of the marriage, including retirement savings!

    1. Very well said Frufra.

They weren't married that long (less than 10 yrs), so he won't get support for long. But if he took a backseat to her career he deserves a piece of the action.

    2. Agree. Was he her manager or something like that? If he helped build her career, he probably should get a chunk, either a lump sum or support payments.

    1. @Karen - this is one of my favorite ranting subjects - sadly, lots of divorces among the 40+ set, so I get to trot this one out too often. And the added benefit is that it makes my husband slightly fearful when my eyes light up over this topic. Just a drop of healthy fear helps keep a marriage right, know what I mean ;-)?

    2. Love your posts, Frufra! And totally in agreement on this!

  18. exactly Frufra, Also, when you request your claims, you request everything so that later on you are not barred from doing it at a later time or negotiating that portion- it's actually a technicality like property distribution,& it's the Lawyers that throw it in there as well as their last catch-all phrase as what equity provides,etc.- we have NO clue what their particular situation is or what actually went on so,no judgement.

  19. ...I said exactly Frufra to your FIRST COMMENT-no comment on your second"husband slightly fearful..."comment

  20. @rolo - I said just a DROP. I'm a sweetheart, I promise.

Also, when I do start ranting about this topic, my go-to joke is "Half! Give me half, Eddie!" That's an age test - I'm not sure if anyone under 40 knows what that's about :-).

  21. Frufra +100000. Spousal support has a place and a purpose.

  27. I cant believe its about money!! Reminds me of Goodie Hawn first husband, gus tribklokkos, who complained she worked too much while they were married, and he didnt like the fact she made way more money than him. Resented it greatly. Didnt prevent him tho from soaking her for alimony in the divorce!!!!

  28. I'm generally pro spousal support too. It's not about dignity if he put his career on hold to support hers.

I left a good job to move to be with my husband. Ten years ago! Now that my little is starting school, I'm starting school too but if Mr. Beth found a new honey I'd be definitely on the losing end money-wise.

  29. Violet, because women don't get spousal support right? Women, always the victims. You'll get more than 77 cents on the dollar when you start actually being treated as poorly as men are.

  30. Wasn't he her manager at some point? Maybe there's a genuine reason he's asking for it.

  32. Jeezus, Jordan, you're just a one-trick pony, aren't'cha? Boring.

  33. If one party worked in the home and didn't earn an income, spousal support is fine.

The only people who hate spousal support as much as the people paying it are the subsequent spouses of the people paying it.
