  7. I was at that Billy Joel concert last week. It was so sweet when he started singing Uptown Girl as his 1st encore, and made the cameraman zoom in on Christie dancing in the crowd!

    1. I would love it if Billy & Christie got back together! And those kids are gorgeous. And Alexa's got her own style, it would be awesome if she got her dad's singing ability.....

  14. I'm borrowing this thread... my daughter thinks she may be on a Southwest flight from Milwaukee to Las Vegas with Anna Kendrick now. Possible? Wearing a hoodie, dark glasses and using 2 phones.

  20. Christie Brinkley is fabulous. She was so awesome on Parks and Rec. We saw Billy Joel over a week ago at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. I cried the entire time. It was just so good. I know some of his music is a little cheeseylicious, but I loved the show. The Boys to Men a capella number was AMAZING. And I heard Vienna live. I can go to my grave now.

  21. Wasn't there a story on cdan not that long ago saying Robin had checked into rehad as a precaution to falling off the wagon?

I hope it's not a suicide because he has 3 children.

  34. I cannot believe how sad I am about this. Diana level sad. Someone posted a picture of Aladdin hugging the little boy and I just got teary. Robin Williams doing Aladdin changed the perception of celebrities doing animated movies. Good Morning Vietnam, Birdcage, Mrs. Doubtfire, the list is endless.

  37. Oh robin, i wish you didnt feel like you had to do that. You gave us such pleasure, and we cld do nothing to comfort you. Rest easy, rest well.

  38. This makes me incredibly sad for his family especially his wife and children. No matter how sad I've ever been, I could never abandon my child and leave her to wonder for the rest of her life what she could have done to prevent it or help me. That would just be too selfish of me.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Not to rag on you, Pugster Mom, but I just wanted to point out that it's easy to see suicide as selfish when you're doing OK, but when you're that far gone and that far down, you think you're doing your family a favor--you're this horrible creature who's no good for or to anyone, and they'll be much better off and happier without you around. As the Bloggess says, depression lies, and while it tells a lot of whoppers, that's the biggest one.

    1. I don't mean to sound heartless. It's just how I would have viewed myself. It's always been about what's best for my daughter and her heart would be broken if anything happened to me.

  40. So very true, Robin.

  41. From reading Sylvia Plath, who attempted suidide many many times before she suceeded, the idea of committing suicide becomes all consuming. Its the only and best thing to do, right now. And as poster above said, they think they are doing their loved ones a huge favor by removing themselves from their lives. Its pretzel logic that results in the opposite of what their depleted mental state is telling them; loved ones are devastated, not at all relieved. I wonder if this is the first time he's tried this, and yes i know it doesnt matter and its none of my business. Just trying to understand.

  42. thanks @auntliddy, you put it perfectly. We went through this last year with a player on my son's hockey team (some of you may remember I asked for help when he was missing). His family was totally devastated. My brother-in-law did the same thing. Pretzel logic is a perfect description. So tragic. I used to get mad at the person who chose this ending. I now understand why they chose it but I truly wish there was a way to help these people see a light at the end of the tunnel before they make that final decision. Robin Williams was brilliant. Such a loss to the world.
