Sharknado Is Here To Stay

I guess Tara Reid and Ian Ziering can count on steady paychecks for the next few years. Sharknado 2 set a ratings record for Syfy with almost 4 million viewers watching the first airing of the movie which was triple the amount of people that watched the first movie. During the airing of the movie, it also received 1 billion Twitter mentions which is an astronomical number. I actually have not got around to watching the second installment yet because it is something you have to prepare yourself for and can't just sit down when they tell you to watch it. you need a pitcher of adult beverages and need to prepare yourself for really bad acting and directing and sound and to convince yourself that you are not wasting a couple of hours of your life. So, pretty much like watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians, but with killer sharks and cameos from a bunch of people you have not thought of in years.

  8. It is actually quite entertaining.

Its dumb script or bad acting (the best one is the African American anchor who apparently also tells the weather in American TV) is just what we were looking for.
It has some jokes that made me giggle (the former baseball player) or the homage to "army of darkness" and it's in all better than the first one (shocker). I even found Tara Reid cute, not "I will risk my life banging her and getting all STDs imaginable" but cute as in "if I wear an NBQ suit, I can speak to and even touch you".

It only pisses me off the chauvinism of the New Yorkers that is all over the movie (we are the best, the capital of the world...). That's probably because is paid by the city's gov, but still.

  13. Haven't watched either of them, but I guess they're this generation's Airplane, huh? I'm all for mindless fun - life is full of bullshit; if shark tornadoes make people happy, I'm all for it!

  14. Not that it is always a bad thing but we are a nation of excess in all things- even campy shitty movies.

  15. Now I wish for the original MST3000. Only way I would watch Sharknado.

  16. RiffTrax did a Sharknado riff in theaters. RiffTrax has got some of the original MST guys in it.

I hear Sharknado 2 passes the Bechdel Test, so it's got that going for it.

  20. We watched although we missed the first 15minutes. Mr B asked me who Tara Reid was...l told him (he doesn't follow gossip) he asked how she could be involved with Ian whatever since "isn't she around 60 years old?"
