Blind Item #1

This B+ list mostly television actress from a network comedy that seems to keep plugging along and will show up in our reruns for a very long time was performing a scene when she messed up in front of the audience. She then shouted that the whole thing was f**king retar*ed. When she said it, the whole place just kind of stopped. The actress never realized why everyone stopped and just moved on with her retake.

    1. I like the Melanie Lynskey guess, @sandybrook. She's from New Zealand so may not be aware of her faux pas.

  6. Can't be Aubrey Plaza because Parks and Rec doesn't have a live studio audience, nor does Modern Family.

  7. No studio audience for "The Middle" or "Modern Family." Shot on locations, not sound stages.

  8. Gotta be Kaley. What others shows are filmed before a live audience that has been on forever? Not many. Parks and Rec, Modern Family, New Girl, etc are not filmed in front of audiences.

  9. So did everything stop because she swore, said 'retarded', or just because actresses don't have mini meltdowns in front of a live audience? Or all three?

  10. Im not sure where the shock comes in. Using the word retard? Yelling? Breaking character? Im guessing its using retard?

  11. Swoozie kurtz (Mike and Molly)..first thought.

  12. Retarded is frowned upon

  13. has to be someone old or someone low class who doesn't have the sense to stop using the word "retarded" incorrectly.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Perhaps it's a person who is annoyed by the word police telling them what they can and cannot say? It's not low class to refuse to conform to the bullshit, nor do you have to be old. Besides, all of the other "nicer" words that were supposed to replace retarded are now being used basically the same way, so what was the point? To make some people feel morally superior to others? To pretend that people with disabilities don't have those disabilities by using different words?

I'm sure even questioning this makes me a grade-A asshole but it's more scary to me that nobody ever does question this stuff.

  15. Kaley isn't an A lister. She's a B+ lister (and that's being kind). Someone like Michael J Fox, Seinfeld, Aniston, Cox, Tom Selleck...those were A list TV stars.

In truth...not everyone knows who she is. She's not a big household name yet. I wouldn't even know who she was if it wasn't for this site and the gossips, because I don't watch Big Bang Theory.

  17. Is Courtney Thorne-Smith still on Two & a Half Men? Sounds like it could be her.

  18. @rolotomassi
I agree. Kat Dennings. Enty describes her as B+. The other actresses people have mentioned are on hit network comedies, but Enty says this one just "keep[s] plugging along".

  19. Hey, Astra -- refraining from insulting and belittling someone with developmental issues isn't "conforming to the bullshit"; it's behaving like a civilized human being. Maybe you should look into it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes Astra, you ARE a grade-A asshole.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Do you know that "stupid" meant "someone with an IQ between 26 and 50" and "idiot" means "someone with an IQ between 0 and 25"? I hope you never use those words, or you are f wording assholes with no possible relation to civilised humans.

    Retarded PC douches.

  22. To anyone over 40, 'retarded' is not a bad word. It just has double meanings like 'asshole'.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cuoco isn't A-list no matter how much money she's making. She's regarded inside the biz well below her PR profile because she's such an airhead. This is exactly the kind of dumb thing she'd say when frustrated.

Big Bang Theory is an A-list show. That doesn't mean that anyone on it, other than Jim Parsons, is A-list.

BTW, the idea that "retarded" is some kind of unspeakable epithet is, well, retarded.

  24. Insulting and belittling someone with developmental issues is mean.

Calling a person or group retarded when they underachieve and should know better is just another insult.

  25. Hey Sunnyhorse, maybe you should learn the definitions of words before you lecture me about looking into anything.

The definition of "retarded", from Mirriam Webster: "slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress".

You can use different words that mean the exact same thing because you think the original word is "mean", but you still didn't answer my question, and you engaged in some insulting and belittling of your own, simply because I dared to ask a question. WHY AND WHO DECIDED THAT THIS WORD WAS ALL OF A SUDDEN TABOO? Can you answer the question, or do you need to call some more names? Because you're obviously the civilized human being here, we should all act more like you!

TurkishTaffy, thanks so much for your answer to my question! You're obviously another civilized human being. Stay classy!

  26. I have to go with Astra. It's not mean in the literal sense. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Saying a situation is "fucking retarded" is not an insult to anyone with a developmental disability. If she looked at someone in a wheelchair and referred to said person as fucking retarded, then yes, she is a total asshole. That's not what happened here. It's amazing how offended some people get by things that aren't the least bit offensive. What's next - scarlet letters for people who use offensive terms out loud?

  28. I dont see this being anyone from big bang. That show is still epopular and not just "plugging along" Two and Half men would be my guess

    ReplyDelete
  29. Two Broke Girls is who this sounds like to me. It sounds like something Kat would say. I'm in the group that doesn't see this as a big deal either.

  30. I agree Kaley isn't A list no matter how much she's making. When you don't need to add , the blond from Big Bang Theory after get name to the general public she's not A. As someone mentioned at this point in their respective shows you didn't need to add a description to Aniston, Cox, Danson, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Glad I checked back. Enty has Kaley as A television on ratings list from several months ago. Given publicity for $1million salary, publicity for marraige to tennis boy, and her priceline commercials, she has not dropped. That being said, despite the list who knows.

  32. I like you, Astra. I know you get a lot of shit around here, but I like your outlook on life.

The question is, WAS the whole thing retarded? Which, by definition, means not functioning properly or as intended. The actress in question may have been entirely accurate. She wasn't calling anyone anything. The PC police are getting boring already.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hope you feel better about yourself after calling someone or something retarded Astra. Do you use faggot as well?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Why thank you, Cee Kay! I really appreciate that. I just hate bullshit and there is so, so much of it out there. People can give me shit, it's cool. I'm grown and like Navymommy said, "sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me".

skippy, I don't have a problem with my self-esteem. Thanks for your concern! I certainly hope YOU feel great about yourself after jumping on the morally outraged PC police bandwagon though. For many people, it's their only way to feel superior to others, and I understand that. I know it angers your kind even further when your targets refuse to play along and be appropriately shamed, but don't worry, you'll find someone, somewhere that will give you the response you crave.

But really, don't you have enough indignant outrage over my opinion on "retarded" to power your righteous indignation?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Retarded is a perfectly acceptable word when used descriptively. It is only offensive when used perjoratively against a person in lieu of a more appropriate synonym. The offensive term is usually the word retard used as a noun.

    ReplyDelete
  36. From the clues about "reruns for a very long time" narrows the live filmed to Two and a Half Men and Big Bang. "Plugging along" rules out Big Bang. That leaves Two and a Half Men and as much as I love to look at her, I get Courtney. That's a shame because she's wife material and few are.
