What recently deceased actor-comic and Oscar winner/nominee once had sex with an actress/comic whom he considered one of his closet friends early on [think early '70s] in both their careers? They decided to remain just that after that one night stand gone wrong.

DeleteI don't think this is Joan. It says "early on in both their careers" and specifically references the early '70s. Joan's stand-up career was already in full swing. Plus she was married with a young child at that time. (Not saying she couldn't have been cheating but I imagine it would have been difficult.)

ReplyDeleteFor the "too soon" crowd, honestly, what's bad here? A guy had sex once with someone he liked, and both realized they didn't want to do that again. No harm, no foul, no nastiness or poor conduct. There's nothing here that reflects badly on him in any way.

ReplyDeleteIt feels wrong to dissect gossip over the dead, no matter who it is or what the topic. But that's just me.
I don't think this is too soon. It's not damning in fact it paints him in a very sweet light. How many of us have had a one night stand and then avoided the other person out of embarrassment? They agreed it was one time only, let's not let it get in the way of being friends. I think that's very noble AND respectful.

ReplyDeleteJust to be different... Robin Williams and Fran Drescher. They did a couple of movies together in the 80s, after all...
ReplyDeleteRadner lived in Toronto until she was hired for SNL in '75. If they hooked up it would have been later in the 70's.
ReplyDeleteWilliams was at Julliard and then in SF getting started doing stand-up in the early 70's. This sounds like a woman who came out of the SF comedy scene.
