Today's Blind Items - The Conversion

This former tweener actor starred in one of the most popular movies of all time. He was the lead, and after the success of the movie which is beloved by everyone despite the horrible special effects the actor worked on a few other movies. It was during the filming of what would be his final movie that he met a woman that he fell in love with and the woman said she could only date our actor if he converted to Islam. The actor did. While he was taking classes, he was told he should give up acting so he did. He became a completely different person and married the woman and now he and his wife are being investigated for providing housing and laundering money for an organization the funnels fighters to the Middle East from the US and other western countries.

  2. Henry will be in an upcoming mini series on History Channel. And he's been working pretty steady over the years.

  3. That clip of Henry's audition for ET is the best audition ever.

  4. Henry has a very active IMDB page. And his wife is German, dont know if that makes any difference, but still.

  5. Maybe one of the kids from The Neverending Story

  9. Barret Oliver...He stopped working in 1989.

  10. Henry has been divorced for 7 years and was in Betrayal on ABC just last year.

  11. Henry still shows up sometimes & IMDB is active.

  12. Not Barrett Oliver, he's a photographer and his work is featured in shows around the world. I know this because I covet his book, A History of the Woodburytype, which is on sale at Amazon for $2k.

  13. Barret was at one time a member of SeaOrg (Where's Shelly?) and married a fellow Sci but they divorced when he was a teenager. I cannot find if he ever remarried.

  14. When someone says "you must be a completely different person in order to be with me", expect nothing good.

  17. Jason James Ritcher---Free Willy

  18. The free Willy kid still works, look like he took time off in early 2000's.

  19. @Shelly---yeah almost 10 years off---and has just started working last year---terrorism doesn't pay for itself! I still bet it is him.

  21. Eliminated:
    Henry Thomas/ET
    Barret Oliver/Neverending Story
    Jason James Richter/Free Willy
Peter Billingsley/Ralphie-Christmas Story (he's produces and directs for Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau)

I'm wondering if the movie happened in the 70s. Almost all of the 80s kids can be eliminated.

  22. With bad special effects, I was thinking "Clash of the Titans," but that would mean Harry Hamlin and we know it isn't him.

  23. Would the kid from Time Bandits work?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Good guess, but according to IMDB, his last film was when he was 14.

  24. Oh I love that movie Time Bandits!!! Mother, Father, don't touch that. It's Evil!!!

  27. Jimmy is the older brother of Ariel Winter from Modern Family and he tried to get custody of her in the past year or two.

    I don't think he's married though.

  31. This is a great blind. Someone doing something illegal besides raping or abusing others.

What Adam Rich from 8 Is Enough? Didn't he do a film or two?

  32. Justin Henry. Although I can't match up terrible special effects with Kramer v Kramer.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Henry Thomas works and let's be honest, the E.T. special effecst are not horrible, far from it actually.

I think @Jennifer may be on something with the 70's movies idea.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @Violet, I was trying to make Justin Henry work too. I looked through all of the Young Hollywood Award winners but couldn't make any of them work.

Peter Ostrum from Willy Wonka was only in 1 movie and is now a big time vet so I think we can eliminate him as well.

  36. That is the one of the problems with Islam. Once you are in you're in. The penalty for leaving Islam is death and in particular if you convert to Christianity. It certainly was historically - not sure where the different Muslim countries and Sharia legal systems stand on this currently but I do know many countries it is still in place.

Now objectively speaking if you are creating a new religion as Mohammad did about 1000 years ago and you want to retain membership nothing like a death penalty to keep members engaged and motivated.

    2. +2 for Tina! It's such a better plan than recruiting all of the convicts in prison! Much more glamorous with much less bum rape involved

  41. What about Chunk (Jeff Cohen)? He's now a high profile attorney so it would be easy for him to launder money and he would have room to house people and at one time he was accused of being Enty, so why not accuse him of this! I just can't find anything about a wife.

  44. Pete's Dragon?

How dare anyone say ET had bad effects.

  45. Boozie, I'm trying to find evidence he left Sci for Islam. I think it could be him as well. The blind says he's no longer an actor, it doesn't say he's a hermit. Or this could be a bull blind because today's Entern wanted to make a blind about a hot topic.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Sean Marshall (Pete's Dragon) was 15 when he filmed his last movie. If this is him, my mind is blown. He's a US Naval Reservist as well as a Merchant Marine.

    ReplyDelete
  47. "There was that cult who was known for having their female members do 'Flirty Fishing'."

Those are the Children of God, i.e. the cult the Phoenix family were in. They got Jeremy Spencer of Fleetwood Mac, too, and he's still a member. They're called The Family International now, though. Completely gross and bizarre history. *shudder*

Yeah, the Pete's Dragon guy Sean Marshall has a military career. Also, would we say that Pete's Dragon is one of the most popular films of all-time?! Beloved, sure, and adorable, but I mention it to folks or start singing "Brazzle Dazzle Day" and they have no clue what I'm talking about.

  57. Barret Oliver certainly is rocking the long unkempt beard these days. Based on looks alone I would guess him. He joined the CO$ at 19 when he married but I guess he left them at some point. He certainly fits the clues.
