Mr.X Blind Item #4

What aging former A+ list diva singer/actress pulled the "don't you know who I am" card when waiting in the checkout line at Whole Foods? The cashier definitely knew who she was and ordered her to go to the back of the line like all the rest of the people, which she surprisingly did (not without some bitching and moaning).

  6. Montana, Diana Ross was one of my favorite customers when I worked at a high end toy store (not FAO Schwartz) back in high school (mid/late 80s.) She definitely did her own shopping there.

That said, I can totally see this being Diana. Even though she knew they would tell her "no", she still asked regularly if they would close the store for her to shop in private.

    1. Oh, and as I've actually seen Diana shopping in another grocery store in Greenwich, I am 100% positive this is her.

  7. I would have let her cut the line as long as she sang the song that made her famous the entire time.

  11. What's the point of being a diva if you have to do your own shopping?

  13. It would have been fun to witness this occurrence. I'm surprised no one filmed it or at least posted a photo of the diva waiting at the end of the line.

  14. This sounds like something that happened to my sister at Whole Foods...Rita Moreno was pulling the "don't you know who I am" crap. My sister told her "I do, and you haven't been relevant since West Side Story," and walked away. That shut her up.

  15. Anyone who pulls the "Don't you know who I am?" card should get a swift kick in the ass every time they utter it.

  17. Like StewMcG, I have experienced Diana Ross, and she has my vote.

I worked the gate at the beach in Westport, CT in the 80s. Every once in a while, her chauffeur-driven cocoa Mercedes would pull up and her driver would hand over the $20 out-of-town fee. He'd drive in and park; let her out of the back seat; take her fur coat from her; and stand there while she roller skated around the loop in shiny, 80s roller skating short shorts. After one lap around, she'd get back in the car (with the chauffeur's assistance putting on the fur coat -- this is during the summer -- etc.) and drive off.

God love her, but this smacks of Miss Ross.

    1. Lol, awesome story. You cant get more diva than wearing a fur in the summer.

  18. Somehow I can't hate on a star who pulls that silliness and then gets back in line after being disciplined by the cashier lol

  19. I'm thinking comebacks are in order.

"Don't you know who I am?"

Diana: "No, but you look a little like Ashlee Simpson's mother in law."

Babs: "No, but you kind of remind me of that one wife abuser's stepmother."

Bette: "Of course I do! You were the wind beneath my wings! Fly! Fly! Fly right back to the end of the line!"

Cher: "If you could turn back to the line, if you could walk away..."

I'll throw in another aging diva
    Madonna.

Actually, is Ms Ross (and Franklin, Mittler, Streisand, Cher) "aged" already?

  22. Miss Ross is 70 - that's kind of aged in my book. She looks darn good, I'm not saying she *looks* aged.
