I have to say, I agree with the OK! commenters on this story. Sometimes being a mom to a toddler aint pretty. I have been lucky that my son has never thrown a tantrum like this in public, but I know plenty of kids who have and whose moms reacted the same way. These are good moms, who love their children. Also, Theron is in a parking lot - if she let him run wild he could get killed.

Obviously, there could be more bad behavior, but I wouldn't conclude she's a mommy dearest based on these pictures.

  5. She shouldn't have kids.

If social services had been called to investigate every time one of mine had a tantrum and tried to do a runner they'd never had have time to do anything else.

  7. It could be Charlize, but if you've ever had a willful child, you've probably had to drag them into the car once or twice. My son could unbuckle anything by 18 months. I can't tell you how many times I had to pull over because he suddenly was climbing all over the car. For awhile, we even duck taped the buckles every time we rode anywhere. All that could have gotten us in trouble, but that's what happens when your kids are smart and agile. Reasoning and explaining something logically doesn't always work with a small child.

    +1
But I think it's BS. Most mothers have had this happen, especially when you have two young ones. Tantrum or not, when your child starts to run across a parking lot, you snatch them however you can.

  9. I grew up with 'dictator' parents. It was never pretty -- especially with 7 brothers and sisters.
My wife's family grew up being 'managed.' My dearly departed my mom-n-law always "heard her children out" which is one of the first rules of sales.
Anyway, we raised our son and daughter that way; and, I think they turned out pretty normal with my wife and I still married 30 years on...and neither addicted to drugs or alcohol.
One question: Why is the boy wearing ballerina shoes? Is his tantrum because he doesn't want to learn to dance?

Some of the OK! commenters theorized the tantrum was catalyzed by a hatred of ballet and demand for basketball...

(I'm raising my son in the managed method also. I'm glad to hear your success story!)

  11. Since when is OK Magazine expert about this? They would do anything to create drama to get hits and all.

I know. No matter what how she repsonded, she'd likely be criticized. Like being stared down in the grocery store cause your child is having a screaming fit cause they can't have something and you HAVE to get groceries in cart. Children have bad days and bad moods people!

  16. I was investigated by CPS because my child missed too many school days out of illness, even though I told the school she was ill and she had an IEP to deal with her illness. CPS dropped the case. So please don't assume CPS case=abusive.

Charlize adopted a new kid. The other one is probably acting up out of jealousy. Nothing to see here. Just a tantrum-throwing spoiled brat and a mother who is afraid to give him hell while the paps are shooting.

As a parent, I know patience can be very hard esp if I am tired, had a sh#tty day, etc.
Slapping/yelling is unacceptable in our home. There is always another way.
Even though effort sometimes seems overwhelming, it's usually not too hard to distract a toddler esp w/ practice. And I would much rather take time.
CPS can be a joke, as attendance info above shows.
Know nothing abt how Charlize, etc. parents. Quick pic doesn't say sh#t unless the kid is getting hit & even then huge range from needing more support to abuse.

Wouldn't it be nice if social services would focus on all the kids who are starved and beaten, instead of trying to go after a famous mom who is dealing with a temper tantrum from her child?

Social Service workers are overworked, underpaid and the agencies are underfunded. They do the best they can and deal with horrors that the people who bitch about them can't even imagine.

I doubt Theron is an abusive parent but with her background it can't hurt to check.

breeders love rationalizing. popping out a kid doesnt make your rules different than anybody else. sorry.

  24. She's not doing anything in those pictures that I haven't done. Inside a safe, cozy house it's fine to sort out their feelings but in a parking lot (with possibly her other child strapped into the car) she had to get physical control of him asap. I've thrown a child over my shoulder while kicking and screaming to keep him out of traffic.

Beth, I'm with you. I notice he did the ole "go limp" tactic. It looks like a temper tantrum to me and personally, I don't see what else she could have done, other than force him to get up. Cali, later in the article it said he was going to dance class...maybe they instruct everyone to wear white ballet shoes. She's dealing with a baby in the car also. I'm just surprised she didn't have help with her. I hope her kid was given a big time-out when they got home.

She's not actually being investigated by CPS. This is obviously made up. An article appears like the OK article and we magically get a blind item. This is Enty's MO.

I'm glad you don't think your genes are procreation-worthy.
Judging by your idiotic remark, I tend to agree.

This is total crap BS if meant to be Charlize Theron. We were actually at the same hotel with her & her 2 kids in December & my S.O. was w/her & the kids every morning for over a week & she couldn't've been cooler or nicer or a more hands-on mom...This reputation of hers is BS.

Dating/marrying/sleeping with Sean Penn should be a parental disqualifier
