Blind Items Revealed #2 - Kindness

October 21, 2015

This B+ list mostly television actor got his big break a lot later than most actors, but he has made the most of it. He is on two hit shows at once. One network and one on pay cable. Besides donating a huge check to a recent bone marrow drive, he also donated a couple of hundred hours of his time. Yeah, while juggling all the other stuff he is working on.

Randall Park

It's nice he did that. He's not B+ because I had to look him up, but maybe Entern boosted him up because of this stuff he did.

I didn't even look him up.

  3. I love him on Fresh Off The Boat, even if he isn't Chinese. He's had major roles in other stuff (The Interview, Veep) but maybe only other Asians notice when a fellow Asian is doing well and I guess actors that aren't white or black aren't as deserving of attention here.

Not many Asians (and other monitoring groups) are in bone marrow donor registries as organ donation is taboo in some cultures and religions, which is a huge problem when an Asian needs a marrow transplant, as race is a key issue in finding a compatible match. I only recently found out about this issue and have since registered as a marrow donor. Good for you Randall for doing this!

  4. Me neither. I'm hoping the info will eventually come to me.

I think he's one of those 'know the face, not the name' actors.

  6. Oh. My method probably won't work, then.
Is he cute? If I have to look him up, then I might as well see what he looks like naked.

  7. Don't know him, but I like him already. There are so few Asians in showbiz (my Asian friend says its because they're all too smart to want get involved in it), but they deserve representation onscreen as well (and not just as doctors).

Your friend is really wrong. The Chinese are trying desperately trying to get into the movie business. Chinese businessmen have been trying to buy up studios for a long time. The movie business in China is huge, so there are plenty of Asians trying to get into showbiz.

"are trying desperately trying" - I might be drunk.

  10. I hope they succeed. So does my Asian friend in the biz. She'd welcome the roles they might create.

I want to say MGM was just sold to a Chinese businessman. There are studios in China, but that's not real helpful for Asian American actors. It's a start though!
