Blind Item #7

This foreign born A- list mostly movie actor is a multiple Academy Award winner/nominee. He should be A list but he only does well in movies no one sees. The ones that are supposed to be big he bombs in. Anyway, his wife says he treats her like a toy and only brings her out to be viewed when he needs to look good in the press. He is a master press manipulator.

Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley? Some of his films have been major bombs.

    Eddie Redmayne

  6. Not a multiple nominated actor. This was his first nom.

Now granted I am a lover of Christian Bale so I tend to be a defender. But he's never been a big press person anyways to my knowledge. He comes off as very private. Plus, wasn't his wife a makeup artist/personal assistant to Winona Ryder? She's known to that crowd and probably quite well.
Why do I wanna guess Matt Damon?

Shit. Scratch my guess. I totally overlooked "foreign born."

  10. Don't think this is Redmayne. He seems to always be with the wife and honestly don't know how she makes him look good in the press, in every picture she looks like she's ready to throw-up or punch someone.

Totally agree w Lisa. On the red carpet on Sunday she looked like she was trying to shred everyone with a nasty gaze. Don't see how that would help him.

Could it be the guy that won best supporting actor? Don't know a lot about him but he's foreign .

There have been several BIs about Eddie manipulating the press (never had a successful $$ film). Sir Ben hasn't considered A- since Gandhi. Then there's OGs like Robert Duvall...

    Benedict Cumberbatch?

I would guess Javier B but there would be a better description of Penelope.

I thought of Eddie Redmayne just because he was in that Jupiter Ascending movie and that was a big bomb, and the movies he's nominated for are movies no one watches.

"Theory of Everything" was a big hit. And while "The Danish Girl" wasn't exactly "Star Wars" I think it did respectably. "Jupiter Ascending" was a bomb, deservedly. And he's a foreign born multiple award winner/nominee and lots of people think he's seriously closeted and the wife is a beard - she's quite pregnant by the way. So yeah could be Redmayne and Enty is exaggerating about the movies no one sees because LOTS of people saw "Theory of Everything".

  21. I hate to say it, but Mark Ruffalo? He seems like a good guy, but if he's a master manipulator, that would totally be his deal.

  22. Scratch that not foreign born.

Bale is not foreign born (?)

Me too! Immediately Matt Damon came to mind but he's not foreign born.

According to another blind here, his wife is totally on bord with being beard and knows he's gay.

I don't think so. Mark Rylance looks like such a nice guy, and you could see his wife and daughter beaming as he talk to the media about winning.

I am going to go with Ewan Macgregor. He is always by himself on the red carpet, and the few times he is with his wife they don't look happy. He should be A-list, but of all his movies I haven't seen but maybe one or two. He is never quite the lead in the movies he makes; sometimes he is the co-star.

  28. To be fair, that's how my face looked while I was pregnant. And she's a PR person. She knows the drill.

He was in the Star War prequels. They might have been shitty movies but they made a ton of money. I looked at his world wide box office numbers on boxofficemojo & his movies have combined for over $4 billion world wide. 11 movies that have made more than $120 million. I don't think this is who Enty is talking about.

  30. I totally get she is pregnant. But she always has that look to her. I know she's in PR, you would think she would pretend to be happy. She just never seems happy. But then again, is it a British thing?? The women always seem aloof and miserable. They all have the same tight smile.

No it wasn't. World wide it made $123 million. It had a low budget so it made money, but most of that money made was at the foreign box office where the movie studios usually get 25% of the box office vs the 50% they get here in the states. It made $87 million of its box office over seas & 25% of that is over $21 million. So it didn't make as much as it 1st appears.

In the US it only made $35 million. It got it's budget back & then some, but it wasn't a big hit. Studios don't consider something a big hit if it makes money, they consider it a big hit when it makes them mountains of money. If it had made the $120 million at the US box office where they get a bigger cut from the theaters then it could be considered a big hit. But most of it was made at the foreign box office where they don't get as big a piece of the pie.

Forgot to say, the Danish girl has made $11 million in the US. That's no respectable by any measure. World wide its made over $50 million, but again studios usually only get around half from foreign theaters compared to what they get from US theaters.
