One A lister has not said a peep about the passing of Prince. Why? The just about permanent A list singer from an A list family hated Prince with a passion. She has for the past several decades and him passing was probably celebrated in her house.

ReplyDeleteThis maybe a feud with jam/lewis and prince. Apparently he didn't allow the time to tour with with their original name because he owned it. He could be petty.
ReplyDelete+1 . Bet anything this has to do with Jimmy and Terry, who basically gave Janet her adult recording career, than with Michael. And it was more than just the tour - it goes back decades to them getting fired by Prince from the time originally because they missed a plane due to a producing gig.

ReplyDeleteIt has been said that her mother is very fond of Prince. He sent her flowers regularly for years after Michael died and she cried deeply when she learned Prince died.
ReplyDeleteThe feud was really more one-sided. Michael disliked Prince more than the other way around. MJ accomplished a lot but Prince was talented musician in ways MJ was not and made big screen movies and won Oscars and that got until MJS skin.

ReplyDeleteIt all goes back to What have you done for me lately, a song Jam/Lewid gave to Janet that came from a recording session with The Time before Prince fired them. Prince wrote the whole instrumental and did not get credit. Since 1986 he would perform bits of the song on stage then interupting it asking "Who wrote that ?" then singing his own Controversy track. Until last year he would perform the song on stage asking the same question.
ReplyDeleteAs we all know Janet did not write her songs, Jam/Lewis & her ex husband did and her career nosedived after their divorce because she no longer had him to write the good stuff. That's why all her albums since The Velvet Rope are awful.
In an interview Prince was asked to describe other pop musician. When asked about Michael he said "genius" and when asked about Janet right after he said "sister of a genius".
