Blind Item #3

There is talk of replacing the superhero on an almost network show because the superhero is having trouble getting their meds adjusted correctly and is feeling a lot of pressure about the show. The more success the show enjoys, the worse off our superhero becomes.

  1. Only successful superhero on CW is only The Flash, imo. LOT, Supergirl and Arrow are underachievement. So someone from the Flash? I don't watch, so is there any other superheroes beside Flash guy in The Flash? because I doubt you can recast the main character.

I'll assume this was written carefully, even though that's never a good assumption.

The only current "almost network" is the CW. They have 4 superhero shows. (I'm assuming iZombie isn't considered a superhero show by Enty.) Legends of tomorrow is a team show, and there's no one on the show who you would call "the superhero."

Of the other three, Arrow, Flash and Supergirl, Arrow has been around for 5 years, and is probably on the downswing in terms of popularity. On the other hand, Steven Amell is the only lead of those shows that ever pops up in blind items.

Grant Gustin would be easier to replace than Melissa Benoist. There are a number of speedster characters, any one of whom could become The Flash and take over the lead of the show. It would be really unpopular with the fans, and I don't think any of the current options has the acting chops to do it, but storywise, it's the only one that makes sense.

If this is about Mellissa Benoist, this would be really awful. She seems so sweet and has done such a great job as Supergirl both onscreen and off. I think they'd more likely shut down production until she can come back rather than replace her, because I don't think she could be replaced. The other option that comes to mind would be to retool the show to be Superman, either temporarily or permanently.

  7. Good guess of not your typical suspect, but I think streaming shows are referred to as "almost television." "Almost network" is only CW.

"The more success the show enjoys" is a key bit. Yes, Eric is correct - Arrow is on the downswing, both in terms of ratings and how viewers feel about the show. Doesn't sound like it could be Arrow, even if it's one of the other superhero characters besides the lead.

Flash is also down in ratings this year, but not by a lot, and is still the #1 show on the network. I hope it's not Grant. He seems like a good guy. And the same could be said about Melissa, though the move to the CW has technically made the show LESS successful than it has been in the past. Ratings were highest for the two Superman episodes and have been lower since. However, this still makes Supergirl the #2 show on the network, whereas on CBS, it was more lost in the shuffle.

If this blind was from a couple of years ago, I would think it was almost definitely about Colton Haynes, even though there are no indications he's on meds for his issues.

  9. If this is Supergirl related can we get some gossip on the new cast member Floriana Lima? She dates Casey Affleck so you know there's gotta be a good story in there somewhere

  10. Writing a blind on Colton Haynes after he publicly revealed his anxiety was the reason he quit the show seems a moot point. 100% sure it's not Stephen Amell, the guys does many things without ever feeling pressure. I know Grant Gustin has trouble with big crowds, that's why he doesn't attend cons except the mandatory ones. Whether it's severe anxiety or not, I'm not sure. Haven't heard anything about Melissa Benoist.

  11. Maybe Caity Lotz from LOT.

  12. Grant Gustin maybe. Flash is the only replaceable superhero, they can replace Barry with Wally.

  13. that's horrible. don't replace them because they're having trouble, help them work it out unless they're the ones who want to leave.
