Interesting. Apparently this tabloid Goliath took some orders from their parent company to help throw a movie under a bus. A little revenge against a producer. This is going to end up costing the parent company and its tabloid a ton of money.
Because that alleged "abuse" video was proven fake, I believe. Pretty stupid thing to do. A Dog's Purpose isn't associated with Time Warner, owner of TMZ. However, it's distributed by Universal(NBCUniversal, yada yada), which is owned by Comcast, which also owns E!. Another connection is that Dreamworks, also owned by Comcast was co-founded by Spielberg, whose Amblin Entertainment is listed as first production company of A Dog's Purpose. Sorry if it took me so long to type this that 30 people already said it. It looks like a lot of people really don't like this movie.
How was the video fake? That short clip showed the dog not wanting any part of the whirlpool action taking place and later going under a couple of time, the team had to step in to pull him out. This didn't happen? I think people assume, and perhaps in error, that other abuses behind the scenes took place. Furthermore if the video is fake, it opens the door for litigation should this movie bomb.
Wild guess here TMZ WB live by night cost WB 75 million but they used it to force Ben Affleck down as director of Batman and humiliate him and possibly fire him as Batman and control him more
The exec complain the video was edited to make things look worse. The events even if edited were not manipulated. Two events that got people all riled up is the dog trying to claw his way out when they trainer wanted him in the water, then going under. A better way was to get a water loving crazy pup. There are plenty of them. It's not a long clip but judge for yourself. Seems like a good movie for kids though.
