Jamie Lynn Spears' Daughter In Critical Condition After ATV Flip

Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter, Maddie, 8, is reportedly in critical condition after an ATV accident Sunday.

Maddie's grandfather, Jamie Spears, spoke to E! News Sunday, urging the public to keep his granddaughter in their prayers.

"All I can say is pray for our baby Maddie," he says.

A child her age on a 'hunting expedition' on an ATV. Her mother was not with her. She fell into water and the ATV pinned her down under water for a substantial amount of time. If she survives, pray she isn't brain damaged. Bad things happen to famous people, too.

I pray for her recovery. So sorry this happened. Yes, confused. Young kids do go on "hunting expeditions" on ATVs. It happens all the time. Is it wise? Don't know. Perhaps someone else was driving.

I'm sorry this happened---but that the hell business does an 8 year old have riding on an ATV vehicle?? Even if she wasn't the one driving, they are bumpy and dangerous!

My heart just sank when I read this. First thing that came to mind was a drowning victim, a child about 6 being care for in my unit. They jump started his heart but that was all. Whenever I read about these child near drownings, it's the first thing I think about. This kiddo was underwater for sometime and non-responsive when they pulled her out. The brain does not forgive when denied oxygen. Prayers for Maddie.

New reports say the hunting expedition is false, she was on the family property in Louisiana with Jamie and her husband. She was in an atv with netting and a seatbelt (so I'm going to assume one of those ones you sit inside of, not a regular ATV) and it said she swerved to avoid something and flipped into a pond, Jamie and her husband ran to get her but couldn't get her out of the water until the paramedics got there, they said about 2 minutes. They say she is stable but critical, I wonder if she is awake or not.

The colder the water, the better, especially for young kids. They have a better chance of survival without brain damage.

This story has more variations than Planters has peanuts. The face that this family feels the need to sanitize it is really sad. This happened in La, right? The water would not be cold even at this time of the year. I choose to believe the first report that the mother was not there, the child was part of a hunting party, was not able to control the ATV, fell into a pond and technically drowned.

Oh dear if that's true she's probably on life support and that usually doesn't end well. How terrible.

Yes, the initial report was that Jamie was not there. Then an amendment came out she was about 100 yards away. Also that the two had trouble undoing the restraints to get to her, thus, more time underwater. Additionally rescue got there fairly fast. Hopefully this kid will survive this. If she's experiencing brain swelling she'll be put in a medical coma for management.

You are right, different variations. Perhaps they sense the backlash coming about child supervision, etc. Plus this accident should now be under some kind of review by law enforcement so it's best to tell the truth from the get go. Very sad all around.

  17. I've heard some reports that she is on life support, but I don't know if that's true. Oh man, what a tragic accident.

  18. The police report says it happened on Jamie and her husbands land in Louisiana and that they watched it happen, it says she swerved to avoid a drainage ditch and it flipped into a pond.

White trash trailer park crackers at their best. Where did this family come from? Their entire family is totally off the charts when it comes to intelligence.
