This A list singer is fighting with her record label again. Last time they fought, she won and the record lost. She is winning the fight again, but the record company says it needs to sell better than her last record they liked or they will drop her.

ReplyDeleteI think you may be right. I recall reading that L.A. Reid delivered some platitudes about how thrilled he was to be working with La Carey recently, and Kelly Clarkson had that nasty smackdown with her record company some time ago. She may be going more country this time around, which may have her label stuck with something they won't know whom to target.
ReplyDeleteI'd say Mariah as she's pretty much a legacy artist at this point, but isn't she usually referred to as permanent A list?
ReplyDeletePossibly Katy Perry, who's single CTTR seriously under-performed and rumors say her or her team has halted the release of more singles due to the lead single selling poorly. Can't imagine any label dropping her though as she's a money-making machine. .
I hope it's not Kelly. She still has talent and is very humble. A rare thing in the music world.
