Speaking of OITNB actresses, this one is arguably the most famous of them all. She went off on her agent because she thought she was a lock for a role, but she lost out to someone similar to her but a decade younger.
I'm really tired of 'cis'. Do trans people not see that they are literally demonizing the rest of us the same way they have been demonized with societal labels? I condone neither one... But harboring hate toward any group of people is unhealthy. The one thing I absolutely cannot stand is hypocrisy. As for Laverne, she has always struck me as very full of herself. Hopefully whoever got the role here is not.
yes it's off the rails and overly preachy from the start but gets better around episode 8 when it goes even more off the rails and gets darkly funny instead of just depressing or jokey funny- can't exactly say i hate watched it thru the end but it became compelling
Get a bit of being called 'cis' when I have a dykey haircut, actively date women, can't get married and still get harassment from men. It's nowhere near as much privilege as some trans folks seem to think it is. Also, it's not the 'cis privilege' thing so much as the hypocritical tendency to go around gendering and labelling others without asking any questions at all.
Great what she's done for trans visibility but it doesn't make her a good actress. Show me you can play someone other than yourself Laverne, then I'll sit up and take notice.
Dee, that's exactly what I'm getting at. One of the most unhappy, bitter people I've ever met was a transgirl who spent all her time ranting about 'cis privilege'. What was strange to me was that her family and friends were all very supportive and didn't treat her like there was anything wrong with her, yet she seemed obsessed with being a victim. Meanwhile, I had another friend who I'm not sure how to refer to, because they never told me, not that it was any of my business. Their name was Alex. This person was exceedingly happy, hilarious, and great to be around. Very comfortable in their own skin and always made people laugh. Never complained about being considered abnormal, even though they often got stares and rude whispering behind their back, and were clearly aware of it. They didn't care. I think a lot of it is a matter of confidence. It's okay to be hurt when people treat you badly, but when you start doing the same to others, you are no better than them. Anyway, I lost touch with both of them over the years, but I still miss Alex. One of the most unique people I've ever met. I cannot stand the use of "they" as a pronoun for a single person. It creates such tortured conversation, and it's difficult for even the most considerate person to use it 100% of the time without slipping back into he/she.
I'm all for encouraging people to be who they are, but I think the gender movement has gone WAY overboard. There should not be 20 different gender identifiers to describe 2 biological sexes, I'm sorry. And I think most of the people who identify as genderfluid or non-binary are really just special snowflakes who need to be even more of a special snowflake among their friends, and are using it as more of a fashion trend than an actual gender identity.
The term "cis" doesn't or didn't come from the trans community but a German sexologist . And for the life of me, I don't think anyone is harboring hate by saying "cis" anymore than you harbor hate by using the term "trans people".
The writers came up with that storyline. I'm sorry but she's a shit actress. Gorgeous, though. I think she'd do better in modelling rather than acting.

How is she playing herself? To my knowledge she wasn't thrown in prison for committing fraud in real life, so she's hardly playing herself.
