Today's Blind Items - Payback

This singer is probably C list now, but back in the day, for a brief time, he was A list along with his bandmates.  I'll call him Mr. M.  Although our singer is extremely talented, he is a massive jerk.  Back in the day, he was a rich brat whose parents indulged his every whim and hired him expensive voice coaches to help with his singing, which admittedly, was incredible.  They knew he was going to be famous rock star and wanted him to cash in.  Mr. M did become very famous and rich for a time, but because he was such a rotten person, he alienated a lot of people in the industry.  It takes a lot to do that, but our singer also made the mistake of getting involved with the young adult daughter of a high level industry executive and then tossed her away like yesterday's trash, which was a very bad idea.  Word got around about his treatment of this girl and this made him a few enemies. Because of that situation and his other behavior, what could have been a longer career ended up being a relatively short streak of success for our singer.  Even so, Mr. M still retains ownership over a a specifically beloved peice of intellectual property and a niche of very dedicated fans who still love it.  Fast forward to now, and Mr. M is trying very hard to score a deal which could possibly get him back to the A-list level. He is currently trying to schmooze someone who can back a project that has been a dream of our singer for years.  Because of all the burned bridges, he has had a difficult time getting investors in the past, so he's working this individual particularly hard to secure support for this project.  The person he's trying to reel in is also a similar personality to his and is after a peice of Mr. M's catalog. People who know our singer are laughing at him behind his back because he is so desperate in his pursuit of this backing that he does not realize he's met his match in terms of treachery.  The proposed backer is also hungry for cash  and Mr. M does not seem to realize that he could be making a very bad deal that could mean financial losses and no project at all.
