This permanent A list comedian/talk show host is doing anything to stay silent through all of the sex assault/harassment stories because the host knows what they are covering up and is afraid it will be exposed on their own staff and own history which will tarnish that A list brand in a hurry.

ReplyDeleteEllen DEFINITELY is what one would consider close to permanent A list. and she has a 'brand' more or less w/her name being so well known.
I dont watch Ellen, but I don't recall her speaking out about it and I doubt she's mentioned it on her show. Maybe her kind funny friendly good person schtick would go down the toilet if it went out. Doesn't she hookup w/female PAs or something?

i was going to say fallon, but no brand. since its no secret he is a drunkass and cheats on his woman, it wouldnt surprise me if there have been incidents with his staff interactions. especially while drinking.

DeleteHe's getting alot of flack for his answer but if you heard a rumor about your friend and they said it was a lie, wouldn't you believe them? In every situation, Louie was alone w. these women. He obvi went to lengths to keep it hidden.

ReplyDeletejimmy fallon's dumbed-down his humor (not going after trump like everyone else) because of the universal studios ride that features him. he had so play it politically neutral so as not to offend park guests. he's like universal studios' jiminy cricket.
ReplyDeletewith his history of drinking and hittong on every woman who crosses his path, a scandal could mean universal has to take down or drastically change the ride (=beaucoup$$$). so i can see him sweating right now.
Stewart was on Stern today and they talked about the whole ordeal. His commentary and thought process on it all seemed reasonable to me...but I'm also a sucker.

I can't imagine him NOT being aware of Louis' reputation and the stories that were circulating when so many in the comedy world knew and so many "civilians" with no firsthand knowledge of that world had heard those stories at least 3 years ago or more.

ReplyDeleteWho of the A-list comedian/talk show host lineup actually is a "brand"? Of the lot, Ellen seems to fit the blind the best. Unlike all the others she was A-list Hollywood sitcom star and stand up comedian for a long time before she began doing the talk show. She also has a 'brand' and she's often on the QVC channel hawking her junk.

I'd say Letterman, but he already got caught, but perhaps there were more than we know about and people still working on Colbert's show that did it. The only current working permanent A list talk show host\comedian might be Drew Carey. Ellen is a comedienne technically but her too.
ReplyDeleteI believe the celebrity referenced is Jon Stewart. Given his history of being very defensive about bad behaviour within comedy circles this is unsurprising. He's defended a warm-up routine that mocked the handicap and had a public tiff with Wyatt Cynac. That said (and I want to caveat this by saying Enty deserves a ton of credit for outing sexual assault in Hollywood) I've observed a tendency to lump a wide variety of behaviour together in these blinds so it's unclear to me if the takeaway is that Stewart can be an asshole (he is!), that he's ignored sexual assault within the comedy fraternity, he's covered up sexual assault or that he's sexually assaulted women himself.

ReplyDeleteI don't have an opinion on this one, but in terms of brands: Ellen has a brand of slot machines with her face on them, believe it or not. I happened to hear that in discussions of the Las Vegas shooting. Not sure this kind of news would hurt that kind of brand, though.
ReplyDeleteThis is Ellen. I recall old blinds about how surprised we would all be about her pimping ways behind the scenes. Rendevous in hotels with 20 somethings, cheating, crass comments etc. Her brand is huge: clothing, housewears..etc. She would stand to lose alot if accusations and old stories started bubbling up.

ReplyDeleteok, i'm converted to the ellen guess. the gender-neutral pronouns are the giveaway, and ED by ellen is not just on qvc, it's on high-end store websites, too.
the blind says that "the host knows what they are covering up and is afraid it will be exposed on their own staff and own history". this means it's not just her behavior but a culture of sexual stuff within her staff, apart from her, too.
My first thought is Fallon because I thought it said "night" talk show, but it didn't specify day or night and from what I hear/read, etc Ellen portrays one character on her show but is actually a completely different character in real life (character as in personality).
ReplyDelete@Lane Crawford,the slot machine thing came up because she got exclusive interviews with people connected to the Las Vegas shooting,a lot of news shows got the interviews cancelled because of the connection. Ellen is known to be not so nice, she may have a few skeletons left.

DeleteIt's not Jon Stewart if, as was mentioned above, he went on the Howard Stern show to talk about this! The blind says the host "is doing anything to stay silent." Going on an incredibly popular show is not staying silent.

ReplyDeleteSo it could be Jimmy Fallon (presuming he’s permanent A list, which I don’t see him as) with the A list brand being The Tonight Show (Universal Studios tram ride not so much)...but based on his status I say hell no.
Ellen is a better fit given the recent double standard lechery she displayed ogling Katy Perry’s body, she is permanent A list and the brand is herself - Ellen/the Ellen Show. Other A brand could also be Finding Nemo/Finding Dory/Pixar.
Jon Stewart also works with the brand being the Daily Show.
No way is Fallon PERMANENT A list though.
ReplyDeleteThe tiptoeing around gender gives it away...if it was a man, they could have used "he" and there would be a good dozen men that would have fit the blind, but only one woman, hence the lack of gender pronouns.
Do some homework on Ellen and this blind is very easy. Could always ask Anne Heche how she was treated, that makes a good read.
ReplyDeleteI always have trouble with permanent A list. My standards must be too high I guess. Permanent A list comedians/hosts in my world are dead lol. If any of those host's retired tomorrow I don't think they stay A list or relevant. Now Carson?, Letterman, Larry King?. Yep permanent A list.
