Blind Items Revealed #4 - Anniversary Month

July 30, 2013

This former almost A list mostly movie actor has been using his assistant's urine and the urine of production assistants for mandatory drug tests. The production company is on it with him because they want the show made. They think the actor can function even if he is using and will do everything to make the show and to fool the insurance company.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (don't know how I missed this one when I was revealing his other drug problem blinds after he died. I miss this guy a lot.)

  2. I wonder if it wasn't revealed. Because of the legal issues, this is insurance fraud.

  4. 'former almost A list actor'???? He won an Oscar and opened movies (Remember The Master)?? I checked the guesses and Robin Williams was most mentioned which is probably more ridiculous than PSH because they were both solid A list and Williams possibly A+. One person mentioned PSH but was quickly reminded that he was A list.

  6. He wasn't a waste of talent, longtimereader. He had an illness and honestly, we need to stigmatize people who are ill way less and hold predators accountable more often.

  7. And maybe if they wouldn't have allowed that, he might still be alive.

  8. as the mother of a heroin addict, i can't emphasize strongly enough how damaging it is to enable an addict. with hard boundaries that he had to be clean to work, he probably would have done what it took and might still be alive. enabling addicts is selfish and abusive of their health.

  9. Not everyone enabled him. A good friend of mine was one of those who did an intervention, along with an A list actor. They tried everything, including convincing him that he cannot leave his children fatherless. Not even that convinced him to ditch the heroin.

  10. nothing worse (well, few things worse) than watching a friend or family member ignore your pleas to get better. my addict son's retort to "don't you care how we'll feel if you die?" was "you can all kill yourselves too if it's that hard for you".

this is why i posted what i did: the only thing as important to the addict as heroin is money. if the studios hadn't enabled his faking the tests, if every potential gig demanded he be clean, he probably would have, if only for the duration of the shoot. but of course that's fantasy. he would have found someone else to pay him and cover for him.
