I sometimes wish this former A- list mostly movie actress was still alive. She didn't make a movie the last two decades of her life but everyone still loved her. I think she would have called out that A list actor in the movie that made her famous. She always told those close to her about his assault on her and the constant harassment from the director who wanted her to get as close to naked as possible. She was underage so couldn't get naked on camera, but he pressured her all day every day to take off her clothes and would be rude when she refused and then wrote away some of her part to the actress who was willing to get naked for the director and the movie.
She didn't make a movie in 20 years prior to her death?!?! Damnnn who is this?!?!

ReplyDeleteI can't make all of the pieces fit for Amanda Peterson. The movie would have to be Can't Buy Me Love, and I'm struggling to remember setup where the director could push for nudity or close to nudity. Also, Peterson's family indicated that her assaulter in ~1985 was age 27. Which puts his birth date in ~1958-1959. None of her co-stars in any movies around that time fit the profile. Not saying that it isn't her (whee - double negative) just that I can't make all the pieces fit.

ReplyDeleteDebbie Reynolds started working when she was 16, so she would have been underage for up to 4 movies: June Bride, 1948; The Daughter of Rosie O'Grady 1950; Three LIttle Words, 1950; Two Weeks with Love, 1950. She turned 18 in 1950, but I'm assuming the movies released that year were filmed the year before. I didn't realize she was only 20 when Singing in the Rain was released.

ReplyDeleteAmanda Peterson was A- in the 80's, her family said her rapist was 27 years older. So the person would have been born 1945-46? Dennis Dugan fits, was in CBML & he was in a lot of stuff and a very recognizable face in the 80's. Don't know of anything about him personally.

ReplyDeleteThe timeline isn't a perfect fit, but I think it's worth mentioning Amanda was in the movie "Listen to Me" ( began filming May 1988 which would have made her 16) with non other than 22 year old Dan Schneider.
