Blind Item #1

This foreign born A- list mostly movie actor casts himself as a highly likable regular guy. Well, one of the few times he stepped out of movies to do television he was such a nightmare that he terrorized the studio and became so difficult that he refused to let anyone—director, showrunner, writers, costars—do any external press. Very abnormal. The studio kowtowed to his needs even though it totally hurt the production which no one ended up watching anyway.

    1. True Detective was really good imo,he was excellent... but it didn’t make it past season2 because of low ratings I think

    2. He’s been making some great movies lately. What’s so bad about him behind the scenes? How does he terrorize?

    3. I don’t know exactly(if him),but his sister is a nightmare and extremely protective/demanding etc

    4. His season of true detective was so inferior to season 1. I quit watching 3 eps in

  2. Ewan McGregor? The only problem w/ me guessing Ewan for this is I don't want this to be him. I don't want to know if Ewan is an asshole. There's something so likable about Ewan.

  3. @Glue, there's been several blinds lately about his assholery.
But he does sell himself as a good guy so I think Ewan is a great guess.

@Tricia, I don't think Colin Farrell has ever been billed as a "likeable, normal guy."

    Who else, ummmm
Geoffrey Rush? But that Peter Sellers thing probably isn't recent enough to be news worthy.

  4. Tom H is a good guess but I think “The Watchmam” was highly viewed? Colin portrays himself as a regular bloke-which I’ve heard he is so hoping not him...

  5. Maybe Jude Law and “The Pope”

  6. liking jude law, tricia. i found this quote from the hollywood reporter: "Law wouldn't reveal too many details on the production — under strict Sorrentino orders."

    1. Yeah, I think so.... haven’t heard great things about him ,and I never bought that awww ,just a another bloke from (forget his UK hometown, think it was London and he geee up affluent). More like his Dicky Greenleaf character I reckon in The Talented Mr. Ripley(love that film)

  7. I think Jude Law and The Young Pope is the most obvious.

  8. +1 for the talented mr. ripley!!! jude law plays one heck of a "bad boy". i loved him in "the young pope" too, but the series petered out near the end.

  10. +1 for the Ripley fans here. Also known as the one film where Goop is actually tolerable.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more beautiful man than Jude Law in that movie. And what a cast!!!

  11. Could easily be billybob as it completely matches him tanking his amazon show or Jude law's young pope. Both of which are wonderful but

@tricia13 I can't see JL being able to boss around HBO or it matching up with the actual press for it. Young pope had amaZng ratings and plaudits . All my gay friends in London hate Jude Law though for unknown reasons.

    Definitely billybob with amazon

  12. Gonna go with Ewan because of a) general assholery (Trainspotting is my all-time favourite movie so I hate that he's an asshole, but he is, & b) I love the Fargo TV series but I knew NOTHING about season 3, never saw ANY press for it, plus , apparently it won't be on Netflix, and there were some issues/questions re: where it WOULD air. Can't rememexact details...anyway, probably isn't him, but I'm going with him.

  13. Farrell had his substance abuse issues in the past but is well known as one of the easiest going people in the business. He's never 'terrorized' anyone and didn't have the clout on TD II to stop anyone doing press. This is probably Ewan or Jude Law.

  14. I was on set with Colin in Ireland and out and about with him pre and post party boy antics. It got him where it was by the looks of things. The man is a dreamer and wants to see great things for all(recalling meeting him in West Broadway Nyc) he has a solid good heart and will listen to your story. Look at his siblings and mam. Not
    Him for this blind.

  15. Anything I've heard on the Irish grapevine about Colin has been very positive. He became a huge support to a girl from my school who was diagnosed with a serious illness many moons ago. Strings were pulled to get him to send her good wishes, as she was an ardent fan. He ended up calling her directly and kept in touch regularly until her death. Of course, that doesn't mean he can't act the dick in other contexts but I highly doubt this is him. The idea of him forbidding the team behind True Detective from doing external press - and them obeying - and this causing the crappy ratings is ludicrous.

    1. I agree he turned up in my bar after a photo shoot for a front cover of an Irish magazine with his brother.

What about vince vaughan? Same show but he may have had been the star /more pulling power?

  16. Nah, Farell’s a decent fella. A bit away with the fairies, and he puts on the down-to-earth-Dub thing a bit thick, but once he had the son and copped onto himself after all the partying, he improved immensely. Source; Dublin’s still a small town.

  19. @probie and @AIP Agree about Colin. Nice chap by all accounts. Worked briefly with his other sister based in Ireland and she was lovely.
