Blind Item #2

Asking this A/A+ list mostly movie actress to actually do something about diversity which would cause her any kind of personal sacrifice or backbone is not going to happen. She is always working behind the scenes to hire friends of hers rather than anyone of color.

  4. I don't hate the JLaw guess either. I thought Reese first, but she must have hired Zoe Kravitz for Big Little Lies.

  6. Jessica Chastain, she was just slammed for being on the Times cover with other white actresses and no women of color. She is fighting on twitter for the Women of Color rights and she knows ''It didn't look right'' the cover. Hypocrite as always.

  7. @kenny,ac. No kidding. Otherwise it would be.. a list actress forgets her roots and doesn’t help out hometown friends instead worried about making random people, happy. So tired of this, why would you not want to be hired bc you’re right for the part but only hired bc of color. This is hardly a blind item. Imagine if a white woman became president and was on the cover of a magazine w out a black woman next to her. You can’t be happy for the white woman w out dragging color into it.

  13. I do have to laugh a little at the Chastain thing and how every once in a while some social justice advocate for one group gets tangled in the social justice netting of some other group so they have to put their anger toward the oppressor group on hold for a sec while they try to explain themselves.

  14. Is it the new "thing" to hire "tokens"? Why not hire the best person, for the job?

  15. Jessica Chastain

  16. If she's hiring friends then it's obviously not the best person getting the job.

  17. Jessica Chastain was recently on The Graham Norton Show and she is about as bland as you could get. Totally nothing of interest there.

  18. @unknown I saw that and you’re right, bland is the word for her! I’ve never seen her movies but from her interviews I can’t imagine how she has such a big career. Or why Robin Williams paid for her Juliard schooling...

  19. To play devil advocate I think people of color with power in Hollywood can do more. Oprah and Shonda Rhimes have helped black women. White women got it easier than WOC. I wish the business side of Hollywood would support WOC more. Girls Trip was the only successful comedy this summer made $115 million at box office. Hidden Figures made $230 million worldwide.

  20. I disagree with the criticism of Jessica Chastain she has no control of LA Times cover. Only one movie with a WOC as lead came out with Oscar potential and that was Salma Hayek movie. Hayek should of been invited for the cover. But Jessica Chastain getting attacked not fair. Why don't people criticize the LA Times? The bigger is the paucity of leading lady roles for WOC.

  21. Black Hollywood does the same thing. Big deal

  22. I have always thought of Chastain as the poor man's Dallas Bryce Howard...
