Blind Item #4

Thought it was pretty interesting that this foreign born B+ list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee, againg and openly gay was talking about the casting couch when he has personally casting couched lots of very young men at parties hosted by that A list director.

  7. I would have guessed MacKellen was better than B+, with Gandalf, Magneto, and the stack of awards he's gotten. Enty must not be much on fantasy/comic book movies.

  8. I've seen the pic with Ian and Singer, but I choose to tell myself it was just a picture, nothing more. There has to be at least one long time actor that isn't a predator.

  9. Ian McKellan in The Mail today saying women are at fault for the casting couch culture because some agree to it. No mention of men exploiting the same system, or gay producers, directors and actors preying on young male talent or how 'men' are at fault there. Funny, that.

I suspect Uncle Ian has been up to his neck in Singer-esque fun for years and is simply pointing the finger to distract and also out of that casual kind of gay misogyny,

  13. i can't find the clip but a loooong time ago i remember seeing sir ian on a US late-night talk show, discussing his attendance at a party or event in the US (probably LA). he wasn't able to get a drink because he didn't have a photo ID. however, "the young man" that he was with (i think those were his words) was able to get in and get a drink when he produced a fake ID. i THINK this is what he said, but it was a long time ago and i may have it wrong. i remember my ears pricking up a bit when i heard it though, as ian was a bit long in the tooth already.

  14. Ian McKellen

This is the one person who will cause most actual damage if outed. He's seen as a champion for LGBT rights, a symbol of how successful and loved you can be out of the closet. If he falls, the entire LGBT community is likely to take a hit for him. All the sanctimonious right will be all over the case. Spacey never came out before before being outed, Singer is no activist, but McKellen is huge.

  15. Just one story I know about, apt pupil. http://ew.com/article/1997/05/02/indecent-proposal-set-apt-pupil/ not implying Ian McKellen right now but a shady director.

  16. So are all the list ratings based on what Enty thinks? Ian McKellen is higher than a B list....

    Noooooo.

If it is true...really sad and like Mag says, it will be a huge blow to the LGBT community, I imagine.

  20. I doubt if every gay actor/producer that went to one of Singers parties was a raper or casting couching and a lot of consensual hookups at swanky hollywood mansion parties. Not unlike when a lot of hot actress wannabes show up to any hollywood party with actors/writers/producers. One of the complicating factors with the current scandals.

  21. @MJ $3.6 billion in box office would tend to disagree with you. That is more than the likes of Depp, Robin Williams, Will Smith and Bruce Willis. You also cannot ignore his theater awards.

  22. I which hypocrites like McKellan would be exposed. I dont care if he's a great actor - when I saw all those creepy pics w/him & Singer and the twinks at the parties, I just knew.

  23. Interesting that his role in Vicious was of an aging actor, lusting after a very young man. Method acting?

If this blind is accurate, I wonder if Patrick Stewart will denounce him. That'd be heartbreaking.

  24. his role in "gods and monsters" made me think of him momentarily for the "monster icon" blind, but that person has to be heterosexual.

  25. I hope it's not McKellan, but I was recently thinking about a bit he did on SNL where he played Maggie Smith during WU. He kept hitting on Jimmy Fallon and eventually stole a kiss. Jimmy blushed, and is notorious for breaking, but I can't help but wonder if it was unscripted. While there were male cast members at the time who did male on male kissing, Jimmy was rarely one of them.

    1. McKellan was quite open in one interview that he did SNL because he had a crush on Fallon (and it helped Kylie Minogue was the guest singer)

  26. Oh, Sir Ian, not you too :(

But... It wouldn't surprise me, I've heard comments around before and there's been a couple of occasions he's been open (intentionally or not) about past behaviour. Please tell me Patrick Stewart is still a treasure?

PJ's spoken up so much about domestic violence that I can't imagine he'd be happy that his best bud was involved in this. Maybe he's sees the casting couch as a ubiquitous part of the industry, maybe he thought the behaviour was 100% consensual and part of gay culture, or maybe he tries to ignore it or downplay it because McKellan is his friend. Maybe he didn't know, or care.

And of course there's all the rights IM himself has championed, especially the LGBT community... it would be devastating for them. I guess 'heroes' have the farthest to fall.
