Blind Item #9

Another royal one for you. That new bride is going to be offered something for her wedding to wear that is an original so to speak. It wasn't offered to the most recent big bride in that huge wedding. This would be huge.

    1. And it’s probably Diana’s tiara

    2. My guess would be the Queen's Burmese Ruby Tiara. It belongs personally to her and she commissioned it in the '70's.

    1. There are lots of fashion items from 1981 that would still look good on a person in 2017 (if slightly readjusted). But not taht dress. HAAAAAALLLLLL NO. πŸ‘°πŸ»

And I love Diana. But that dress? No.

  4. Kate already wears Diana's favorite tiara.

  5. Well, Kate got the iconic engagement ring though, right?

    ReplyDelete
  6. But Kate got Diana's ring, which was originally given to Harry, so isn't this a fair trade?

  7. It's called the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara, with diamonds and pearls and I'm kind of ashamed I know this.

    1. Nothing wrong with fangirling/fanboying tiaras. I've been thinking of buying a headdress the other day, but it was sort of out of my price range. I bought a designer robe once because I thought it looked like the one Jim Moriarty wore on BBC's "Sherlock". πŸ‘ΈπŸ»

  8. It might be the Russian fringe tiara that QEII wore for her own wedding.

  9. @Krab, I think the blind is referring to the Spencer tiara.

You're thinking of the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara.

  10. The Spencer tiara is owned by the Spencer family, so no way would Meghan wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. It could definitely be borrowed from the Spencer family. Will and Harry are also members of that family.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kate got Diana's ring and wore her tiara. The last thing to wear is D's dress. It's hardly a flattering thing to wear, to be honest ;)))

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yes, but they're estranged from Earl Spencer.

Also I very much doubt Meghan is going to do the big-dress, tiara-veil thing. It's not proper as a divorcee, and I can't see the queen allowing it.

  16. Tiaras are a big, big thing with grandma Betty. Her sister Maggie said that Betty is the only person who could affix a tiara while walking down a staircase and not kill herself. She is reputed to be rather modest in most ways with tiaras being her indulgence.

I know little about the individual pieces. But I am sure there are folks out there who can calibrate tenths of a degree of favour/disfavour based on which one lesser royals are allowed to wear.

  25. @Dallas, I think Harry likes to party & Meghan is like-minded. Maybe the Queen sees Margaret in Harry & wants to make amends?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Never thought of that. Solid reasoning, though.

  27. I’m an unabashed Anglophile, so I’ve watched/read just about every news story since their engagement. Harry looks awkward AF and she’s Gropy McGropeface.

  28. I should be ashamed to post this link but MommaBear loves her some diamonds. It’s a blog that follows the jewelry that the Queen wears. It give interesting info on the history of her baubles, including her tiaras.

If your nerdy about this stuff like me, it’s interesting.

And @Krab I totally agree, as a divorcΓ©e, tradition would suggest that this wedding, from the dress & jewelry to the ceremony and dinner should be an understated affair.

  29. considering that even diana hated her wedding dress, i am sure that's not to the answer.

  30. Thanks for posting the link, Momma. Before my aunt passed, she gave me her auction catalogues from Princess Margaret’s auction through Christie's in 2006. I spent hours reading alllllllllllll the info.

  31. All Kate's tiaras are on loan from the Queen, she doesn't own one of her own, so perhaps they are buying Meg her own tiara , the same was done for Fergie when she married Andrew as 'second bride' she was never allowed to wear the Royal Bling, I think this might be the case here.

  39. I'm going with the Spencer Tiara as well.

    http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.com/2011/12/readers-top-15-tiaras-13-spencer-tiara.html

Diana wore it for her wedding.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Diana wore it because her father allowed her to. Don't forget that the tiara belongs to the Spencer family, not the Royals. After Diana's brother became the Earl he demanded she return the tiara and he never leant it to her again. It's now on display in his Diana museum.

  40. I think everyone should wear tiaras. Last summer I won a plastic one for my daughter (I’m the king of skee-ball y’all) and wound up wearing it all day. I felt fabulous! But she’s four and wanted it so I let it go and have tried to move on with my hetero life.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The firm didn't open the vault for her engagement ring they're not opening it for the wedding. The Spencers hate Charles so I can see them loaning the tiara out of spite at, Harry's request of course.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lol She can't wear the Spencer tiara there are rules for that. Seems as though Meghan wasn't happy with what happened at the awkward Sandringham walk so she is sending in this crap(perhaps through friends) to attack everyone especially Kate lmao! Whata joke she is! She can't wear either tiara because Kate has one and the Spencers have the rules that no one but Earl's children can wear the tiara. What are u going to drop next Meghan.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Damn. I just dont understand this way of life. I got married by the sweetest woman at the Santa Cruz mayor's office and we were as happy as clams. Had a beautiful wedding. I also don't understand the backbiting bullshit. That's why I don't do well in-group work environments. I hate this shit.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I noticed a few gossip articles stating the Spencer Tiara is Harry's heritage. I get the feeling it means more than the fact that Harry is Earl Spencer's nephew. Can anybody elaborate?

    ReplyDelete
  45. The more I think about it, the more I think @Emeraldcity is right. She's going to get a new (original) tiara.

    ReplyDelete
  46. If she gets a new tiara of her own that's truly given her (by Harry, say) and not one of the Queen's "gifts" (actually loans to be clawed back upon divorce), that WOULD cause trouble. Diana never owned a tiara outright: she had the Cambridge Lovers' Knot tiara (loaned/clawed back) and the Spencer tiara (borrowed from time to time from her father/brother) to use but not to own. Kate has worn several different tiaras but all on loan, too. If Harry buys one outright for MM, William's going to have to fork out and BIG TIME because of course Kate's tiara should outdo MM's. Can't wait to see!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don’t know - I mean, these are (basically) going to all be Kate’s one day to loan or wear as she pleases. She gets all the official gear. Meghan won’t get any of that (not sure she cares though).

      Delete
  47. Maybe it's the Imperial State Crown. Oh wouldn't everyone just shit a brick if MM came stepping out to Here Comes The Bride in that....?

    ReplyDelete
  48. To me when he says “an original” means it is one of a kind, like the mother of all pearls. It bas to be a huge thing and also related to Diana. So likely the Cambridge but I would bet on the huge emerald one.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @BayAreaGirl...... the Spencer tiara belongs to Diana's brother, it was never hers to leave to Harry, her brother allowed Diana to wear it occasionally after her father passed away to up it's provenance value if he decided to auction it off one day. He has pretty much sold off most of the furniture and paintings from the estate as it is , so I wouldn't be surprised to see it at auction one day, it would probably go for over a million even though its true value is nowhere near that.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sorry, what's the "awkward Sandringham walk" - did Meg slip over one of the dogs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah, what's the "awkward Sandringham walk"?

I've seen a few photos and I can't get over how horrid her hat was. I think MM is going to try to outshine Kate as the best dressed wife of the two brothers. Kate seems a bit bland, but she's modest and appears to be genuinely
kind and yes, is British, so Meghan will lose the nation's popularity contest.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think Meghan will be a flash in the pan. Kate may not be the most exciting person but she’s exactly what you said - modest, classic, appropriate - just fun enough to be relatable (racing William in sailboats) but never doing anything racy. Kate doesn’t seem to be involved in too much Palace intrigue - more in prior generation. I could see Meghan trying to outshine Kate and it coming back to bite her.

  52. There are no rules about wearing the Spencer tiara other than if the owners let someone wear it. It isn't a piece of religious regalia, ffs.

It's jewelry. Pricey, old jewelry. And if Harry asks Uncle Charles Spencer for it nicely enough, he'll let him.

Also, tiara doesn't equal first wedding. Again, it's jewelry, not a crown. Virginity has no relevance. It's style, nothing else.

And it certainly wouldn't be Diana's dress, which would swallow Meghan up, as she's much tinier than Diana, who was quite tall.

Y'all really are complicating this. And whoever's up there calling Elizabeth "Betty" is so full of it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Diana's children should be able to do what they wish with their mother's belongings.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why would Meg be any more or less able than Catherine? Neither have anything of their own. The only really beautiful thing was the ring anyway. Diana's dress was hideous.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sparkles did look terrible on that walk, bad fitting clothes and awful hat. If she's trying to compete with someone she should stop it because she can't win. Her milieu is not an airbrushed TV setting anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  56. There is a very dedicated group of Meghan haters, probably headquartered on tumblr like another group of dedicated haters we know, that are determined to spread all kinds of lies about her on every forum they deem worthwhile. Don't believe any of it. She doesn't waste a second of her time reading tumblr blogs or sending blind items to CDAN. She's just the latest in a long line of women, associated with famous men, that are bashed by other women. I wish I knew a team of psychologists, I would love to see a study of this phenomenon. I saw it back in the 80's when I fangirled a particular rock band. Every time one of them was photographed with a woman, everyone would gather round someone with the most recent copy of People magazine and talk about how ugly the woman was (they were never ugly). Oh, the teeth gnashing and stories spread about Valerie Bertinelli when she got together with Eddie Van Halen. I'm sure the playbook goes back even farther than that.
