To consider both a woman getting fucked at knife point in an alley and a woman upset because a nerd allegedly didnt use a rubber as Rape, really dilutes the meaning of the term.

ReplyDeleteCount, agreed. It's hard enough to determine rape when we add things like intimidation to the definition. When it gets defined down to not being a gentleman in bed, it's getting close to everyone being guilty except the virgins.
The charges in Sweden were always fishy, especially since Sweden turns a blind eye to much real rape these days, for PC reasons. The article on Assange at Wikipedia, which is no fan of his, makes it sound like they whipped up the charge to get him out of the embassy where someone could grab him. When he insisted on being questioned in the embassy, they claimed they couldn't make the trip and dropped it.

ReplyDeleteDropping the charges because of a legal glitch. ie can't inform the defendant because he's hiding in a Ecuadorean embassy, is not the same as innocent. To quote the Swedish prosecutor. “In order to proceed with the case, Julian Assange would have to be formally notified of the criminal suspicions against him. We cannot expect to receive assistance from Ecuador regarding this. Therefore the investigation is discontinued." It was not because of lack of evidence, simply because of Swedish law they couldn't continue because he could not be formally notified, and why he is hiding still in the embassy. Don't assume every countries legal system works the same way as the USA's.
