Someone needs to interview Oknika Pointer!!!! From her autobiography-
In it she mentions he told her he STARTED DOING COKE AT 10. (this would be around the time he starts acting most likely, or right before)
"Brad's babysitters were people who made sure he didn't repudiate in too much decadence during production. Basically they were people that were hired to be his friend slash babysitter to keep him from using drugs. Especially during production."
-She mentions two specifically in the book, one called Ryan, one called John (aged 26)
John being the only one she trusted out of the people he knew
she mentions John worked on the set of Boogie Nights, knew someone on that set who knew Brad and got the job that way
During filming of Apt Pupil she references a call she gets from Brad:
"I felt that he wanted to tell me something and he didn't know how. So i asked him, "Brad, what's going on? Did someone do something to you? Are you okay?" He told me he had a falling out with his friend Ryan.And that falling out was over something serious. The details of the situation are so grim and disgusting that i began to cry as he explained what went down."
That's all she says about it
She says he does a bump of White China Heroin one night not long after this while at her house. HE'S FOURTEEN while shooting Apt Pupil.
Later on she says he's living in a nice apartment in the Valley and Ryan is his roommate (this is fall of '97, so ???...

MARCH 31st 1997 Attempted murder of his Maternal Grandmother (Judy Hurt), mother, stepdad, and half-sister BY DRIVE-BY into the house they were living in Granger County TN)
Grandmother was shot in arm, and the 2 year old half sister shot in pelvis-they recovered
Supposedly this was arranged by Judy Hurts's ex-husbands new wife.....who wanted to inherit the house.
Maybe just a coincidence, but who the hell knows. Timing is especially suspicious.

ReplyDeleteyears after his death, there was a youtube video of some sort of interview where they were following around Brad Renfro and Bryan Singer at an amusement park (During filming Apt Pupil.) I can't recall where this originated or what program it was for, but in it Bryan Singer and Renfro were riding rollercoasters together and walking all over the park. Singer was sort of interviewing Renfro the whole time. Wasn't too memorable other than it was odd they were interacting more like friends on something, or maybe Singers demeanor was immature (they were at a rollercoaster park.) BUT- I since haven't been able to locate anything like that for the life of me. I think it was even titled "Bryan Singer interviews Brad Renfro."
It was youtube i think, and vaguely remember knotts berry farm but i've since searched and haven't found it. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
Now i'm like what was that interview for and why the hell can't i find it??? I watched it a few times if memory serves me before i couldn't locate it anymore. Maybe it's on the AP DVD?

ReplyDeleteI’ve always thought Hoffman for the Corey Haim abuser. Feeling got stronger after the discussions about Spielberg and Hook. Big kudos to John Oliver for his bold words on stage this week. @SDaly is right, the cracks are building and the bricks are starting to fall.
