What started out as a great night for this former A+ list mostly movie actress turned permanent A lister who does not work much and this A+ list showrunner ended badly. Apparently the showrunner wanted the actress to come to his defense to some reporters who are digging into his sordid past. The pair had a heated argument about the refusal of the actress to get involved and I don't think the friendship is going to be repaired any time soon.

It's very interesting.

ReplyDeleteWhat’s the definition of a show runner? I was under the impression it’s someone who fetches back and forth on production (coffee, picking up dry cleaning etc). But judging by this blind a show runner has a much bigger role! Any enlightenment appreciated.

ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, JMO, but I personally think those conspiracy posts are undermining the site. Blinds are only as good as the sources, and while there are a plethora of witnesses to the Hollywood shitty behavior brigade, conspiracies are by their very nature more secretive. The links are way more tenuous. Such blind items are FAR more susceptible to wishful thinking and blaming on those who we want to be found guilty. I'd urge for less credulity. But at the very least, can't we keep those discussions in the comments sections of those blinds?
On topic- Murphy and Goopster make sense to me.
I'm on board with the Ryan Murphy/Goop guess. Given that her fiance is Brad Falchuk, Murphy's producing partner, she probably knows him well.

ReplyDeleteJust to mix things up a bit, could the A+ showrunner be Jerry Bruckheimer? He was a producing partner for years with the late Don Simpson, whose picture appears in the dictionary next to the word 'sordid'. On the other hand, with the kind of success he's had for decades, Bruckheimer would probably be described with a little more respect than as a "showrunner". And yet - bet there are plenty of skeletons in that closet.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a huge fan of the books (Land of Stories, they really are fun), and we saw him at a Q&A a couple years ago.
Anyway, the movies have finally been announced, with Colfer set to direct. I think this was the *MUST* that kept the negotiations going for so long.
I didn't think he'd had anymore showbiz ambitions, let alone directing.
But now it seems to me it's because if he's in charge he knows the child actors will be safe (the books are about boy-girl twin tweens). I really want him to be the good guy I think he is. If he's seen the horrors first hand then he would not want it happening to anyone else.
