Blind Item #13

Do you think this B+ list mostly television actress from a hit almost television show knows about her boyfriend's STD? Yeah, her co-star boyfriend who she hasn't seen in a while. Apparently he picked it up while hooking up with some actress on that British soap every actor and actress in that country appears on at one time or another.

  7. Probably something low-grade and garden variety. Thinking HPV or the Herp. Could be Hepatitis which can be transmitted from mucous membrane to mucous membrane if you're too damn stupid to get a clean straw for yourself when doing blow with your Stranger Things co-stars.

  8. Casualty isn't a soap

  9. Looks maybe like the soap is DCI Banks. My original guess of East Enders doesn't seem to fit the Dyer/Heaton duo.

  10. Bettyboo - Casualty is on every week with no season beginning or end and ongoing story arcs....does that not make it a soap?
    maybe EastEnders then.

  11. "Low-grade and garden variety .... Thinking HPV or The Herp."

    Really?

I suspect those with either may have another, less dismissive, view ...

  12. How would you know I'm not one of them? The point I'm trying to make is that there are a lot of people with those diseases (especially HPV) and the I am of the opinion that talking about them in the open and de-stigmatizing them would make it more likely that people would feel more comfortable telling partners about them early on in a relationship.

    1. Your a man. For women, it's devastating and no I do not have it.

  13. The biggest British soaps that have had big stars before they were famous are Coronation Street and Eastenders.

  14. "Dismissive" was maybe the wrong word. "Casual" would have been better.

It didn't read like you were making a statement about the need for better communication between sexual partners. It still doesn't, but your point is taken.

  15. It's always sad to see good trim wasted before its prime. I hope the jerk gets written off next season.

  16. One of the UK’s most popular ex-soap stars right now is Michelle Keegan. She left Coronation Street a couple of years ago so as not to be pigeonholed and has recently been looking for work in LA. Story on the DM about her at the SAG Awards and getting pics with friend MBB - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5297229/Michelle-Keegan-joins-Hollywood-listers-Netflix-party.html

  17. Woodman:

I wonder which STD it is? I'm hoping it is something common like HPV--studies have shown one in four people are carriers of this virus, many of whom, however, have not displayed physical symptoms, despite still being able to transmit the disease to others asymptomatically--or, herpes (manageable with medication and similarly not something one should be ashamed of having contracted--after all, even with condoms it is still possible to spread this disease through pubic region contact between partners.

I really hope the answer to the question in the blind is, "yes". Enty doesn't tell us, so I will assume it is. And why might she know about it? Neither of these diseases is so horrible that we cannot speak about them with a degree of levity, and why wouldn't Hollywood actors feel the same? Such levity might even be helpful in creating a culture where openness and frank communication about said diseases increases. And who knows? Maybe one person might feel more comfortable telling a casual sex partner that he is positive before they have sex. If that is the case I would surely be happy.

    Better?

It certainly takes any mystery out of what message you were trying to send.

    Bravo!

  19. @Woodman she's skinny because of the coke.

Std must be HPV but then again HPV is only transmitted by men and not women. So maybe Chlamydia.

  20. @blonde

So drug use plus STD instead of eating disorder and STD ... either way, it seems this kid is on a short bus to Depression City ... sad.

  21. Natalia Dtyer is NOT "mostly television", though. She doesn't have any TV credits on IMDb; and Netflix is not television in Entyspeak, it's "almost television".

  22. HPV causes some kinds of cancers. Viral oncigenics is a thing.
It may not seem like a big deal because one in four people have it & there aren’t usually any symptoms, but it’s in your body, working it’s magic.
Head & neck cancer, cervical cancer....those things kill.

  23. That British soap could be Hollyoaks. Everyone and their dog ends up there...ex-The Bill actors, Corrie, even Kathy Beale from Eastenders ended up there! Plus a lot of young actresses are on Hollyoaks compared to other soaps here.

  24. Sorry, I must have missed the part where I said "don't worry about HPV and don't feel like you need to tell your partner about it". All is said was it was common. I didn't say anything like HPV is "safe". I said common and garden variety. If you don't know what garden variety means go look it up. Thanks for telling me viral oncogentics is a thing. I didn't know that. Because I'm not a fucking doctor. I'm not a lawyer either but I do know that a straw man is "a thing", too. All I tried to say was that hmmm maybe it would be worth it to stop acting like people with big scary STDs need to be ostracized or that it would be awful just awful to sleep (safely) with one of them. All that serves to do is increase the likelihood that people will lie about it like, apparently, the asshole in the blind. You can disagree with me on that point all you want.

  25. Why hasn't she seen him in a while? Charlie and Natalie were just together in London, but were they not seeing each other for a while?

  26. Jessorella, I have been watching Corrie for my whole life, in the states from Canada.

  29. Have to agree with @mistang. Natalie and Charlie were just together in London. Could anyone on GAME OF THRONES or different such series be involved in this?

  32. i just want to kidnap natalia dyer (in like a friendly way) and protect her. she makes me so sad. she seems like a sweet girl and she's so fragile looking and it seems like she's surrounded by bad influences at the moment, since she was vulnerable to begin with

  33. Has to be Corrie. I remember when Ian McKellan appeared on there. He played a charming con man (and this was after the first Lord of the Rings movie, IIRC).

    Thanks for the link, jessorella!
