This B list actress who can usually be found on television has an interesting tabloid past that makes all of you know her. Sure, her prime tabloid days were about a decade ago, but when you have a character in a movie based on you, then you know you are something else. Anyway, she was talking recently about something that happened to her in the #MeToo movement, but she has one thing wrong. She once tried to get a job by casting couching and the producer said no because he knew it would lead to trouble. Probably the only time he said no.

DeleteBut her prime tabloid days were right before 9/11, closer to 2 decades ago. (I just remember 9/11 wiping her alien-Ellen drama off the front pages for a few months.) She's never been close to as relevant since.

A lot of these men and women who were actually abused have been scared to come out because people wouldn't believe them, blacklist them, or try anything to ruin their career and discredit them. It's really disgusting how people are manipulating this movement for their own publicity and career gains when there are real victims out there who are still scared to speak out. People like Anne Heche are disgusting and should be outed publicly for lying.

DeleteI guess the women who voluntarily couched should be allowed to take part in the movement (as long as they quit is, as I think by doing so they do other women a disservice by contributing to fostering an unfair/unsafe environment for women who want to compete for jobs like men).

ReplyDeleteIf we exclude them it can't be a united movement. We need to allow them to start fresh and take up the cause. Kind of sick at the idea we need to throw everyone away unless they've been 100% clean in this cesspool; we need to give them a way to make it back.
Just as long advice they don't make shit up to draw attention to themselves (or call a "bad date" a #MeToo thing, like the person who bitched about Aziz Ansari's lack of red wine).
DeleteLike, if an actress voluntarily hit the couch, then they can come to a march/gathering/protest, but don't make false claims just so they can be the centre of attention.
You know what kind of woman would win my respect now? If someone admitted they casting couched and acknowledged they contributed to creating an unsafe work environment for others and apologised to her fellow women.
