Blind Item #4 - Grammy Awards

This winner last night took his celebrating to an extreme. He is back on coke in a big way and was one of the very few to openly use at the actual show. It brought the A lister down before.

  6. Man, that's a real bummer. Unbelievable talent. Sure hope it isn't him. Had hoped he might be different.

  7. I don't think Bruno is any great talent. Not saying he's not a nice guy or whatever but I don't get the brouhaha over him at all.

But, I think most current music bites across the board. All pre-packaged pablum designed to appeal to the masses. Nothing original has come out in years.

    1. It’s all in the underground. There’s a lot of great experimentation and original music going on right now. It’s never on the Grammys though.

  8. Bruno, who had no business winning anything last night. Especially over Lorde.

    1. Her albums may be whack, but she tours her ass off, and is actually great live, so it's helped her stick around.

  11. Bruno +1. I bet he'll dance walk it off.

  12. Bruno has plenty of talent, but Lorde has more.

  13. Bruno's songs have about a dozen songwriters each. Figurehead.

  14. Lord has Zero talent, an embarrassment to NZ

  15. Bruno. I mean, besides him getting caught with coke a few years ago, those Ray Bans were a dead give away.

    1. lol right? Don’t these kids know only jack nicholson can pull that off! Bruno absolutely does not deserve to win (over Kendrick?! I like lorde - saw her last week but her lyrics can’t compete) He definitely thinks he’s the second coming of mj tho

    2. Yeah I agree Kendrick should have won that one over Bruno. Bruno can sing, for sure, but 24k Magic was a very pop-ish "safe" album IMO (and as such, Bruno was the "safe" choice to win).

  16. Aw, Bruno. Get it together! It is one thing to spark up a doobie and get laced at parties, it is quite another to be fried all day.

  17. Lorde? a talent? she will disappear quietly in a few. I read she refused to perform last night because they would not let her perform solo. She sang a few catchy tunes, has a decent voice, but ugg.
I would not watch the Grammy's if someone paid me. Since they now refuse to give out awards for Rock during the telecast, they give them out "pre show" at a side venue. My love today is for Avenged Sevenfold and their statement. They were nominated, but did not win, however, they said it was not worth the expense to leave tour to attend when it was not even part of the televised event.
I mean does ANYONE know that Foo won for best Rock Song?
I do not listen to Rap, cant stand it anymore, (loved it during the IceT and NWA days) I do not like R&B Pop is a joke, and the political and baiting during the awards just makes my stomach churn.
It did have the worst ratings ever.. thank GOD, one day they will realize that their BS is not what we want to see and hear.
Bring the love back to the Rock bands and groups. I did watch videos of Pink and Miley and Elton. Because while i do not like pop, i do love Miley's voice and Pink is just the most amazing female in the industry. period.

    2. I read that Lorde was the only female nominated in her category, yet she wasn't allowed a solo. Seems wrong to me.

I don't watch the Grammys and this is not my music though

    3. Sting...not nominated...was shown in multiple performances. Lorde...the ONLY female nominated was not asked to perform solo..only as a compilation. I'd be pissed too.

Shemar Moore is on CBS. That's why he's there. Networks always promote their actors when they host awards.

Yes...I consider Lorde a generational talent. She will hang around. Melodrama was incredibly well received by critics. It has a 91/100 on Metacritic...making it the 3rd most critcially acclaimed album of the year behind Kendrick and Mount Eerie. I listen to it in full about once a week and hear something new and exciting every time still.

She wouldn't perform because they wouldn't let her perform her own music and rather wanted her to do the Tom Petty tribute (Which would have made no sense...). Rampant sexism throughout the awards last night based on who won. Ed Sheeran winning over Kesha was pathetic as well.

It's a shame that the singles didn't get more traction, but they were competing against the masterpieces like DJ Khaled and Despacito.

Just because you turn yourself off to pop music because (as I agree) most of it today is garbage, doesn't mean that every pop album is trash.

  20. Lorde better than Bruno Mars??? Dont make me laugh other than that one song of hers what else has she done? Bruno was the most PC winner to pick his music is for all ages. At least Kendrick swept the hip hop awards and won 5 other grammys

Please check out the critical reception and Year-End lists. Universal acclaim for Lorde's latest album which should have won last night (except Kendrick winning would have been okay too).

  22. Bruno. He got caught doing it in a Vegas bathroom in 2010 and was arrested but then the charges were dropped

  23. Lol I'd do a shit ton of coke too, if my entire career was based around ripping everyone else's songs off.

  24. Bruno and Lorde are both great. Problem is I haven't heard a real hit out of either in years, not sure who is writing for them. Is this like musical Atlas Shrugged, did John Galt take away all the great songwriters?

  25. Glad to see some fellow A7X fans. Love, love, love them!

  26. There was some really good music that was nominated, but the problem with the Grammys is that they're so afraid that their old guard won't recognize anyone who isn't totally mainstream, so they nominate great music/artists, and then throw in one person that everyone knows, and of course the folks vote for it. Ugh, they could do better, but they just refuse to.

  28. Lorde sucks as much as Bruno Mars, especially when her style is imitated by way too many people these days.

  29. @pkelly HI get it, she's not the traditional pop star, but her music isn't great. I couldn't get through one whole song on her latest album. I just tried again. Her music is painful, and her face is too weird to look at. Sorry, no offense, that's just my opinion.

Yeah I agree 100%. The thing is, Mars really is talented in comparison to the other dross, it's just that it's a VERY low benchmark nowadays.
