I'm guessing the "actor" isn't human, like Lassie or something.
Or the chimp in the Johnny Weismuller Tarzan movies.
Pal the dog would be my guess.
Mr. Ed
I think you are right. This has to be Lassie. The show was on for 19 seasons no way a Collie can live that long.
Rin Tin Tin
Shemp Howard of The 3 Stooges
Boots the Monkey. I KNEW he looked different.
Old Hollywood could be Petey from little rascals! No idea! Love the Tarzan and Mr ed guesses too- off to google
I'm thinking Shaggy from "Scooby-Doo."
I like the Mr Ed guess a lot... I thought I read something about that once as well... or was it the beautiful Lassie?
Mr Ed- the original was deemed too difficult to work w and replaced!
Christoper Reeves?
Mr. Ed was only on 6 years. It was known for years that Lassie was replaced during the show’s run. What about Trigger?
It's Mr. Ed

Yes, this is Bamboo Harvester (Mr. Ed)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_Harvester
The real one passed in 1970, but another one did press for the show until 1979.
I thought it was common knowledge that several collies were used for Lassie. If Mr Ed who gives a shit?? The horse just stood there.
Bamboo Harvester
Alf
Topo Gigio. Or Miss Piggy. Halfway through the Muppet Show her appearance changed like Three's Company went from Suzanne Somers to Jennilee Harrison.
This reminds me of the time Becky was replaced for a couple seasons on Roseanne, then original Becky came back (and they even joked about the change on the episode)
Don, Becky wasn't replaced. She chose to go to college and was encouraged by Roseanne Barr to do so. She was promised her role as Becky, anytime she decided to come back.
Always liked Roseanne.
This is awful. My day is ruined
From Wikipedia:
“Shemp appeared with Moe and Larry in 73 short subjects—or 77, counting four that were made after Shemp's death using stock footage—and in the feature film Gold Raiders (1951). ”
If the real Mr. Ed had a broken leg, they usually put them down.
"There's no such thing as a 3 legged horse," said the Vet to me when it came time to put our daughters horse down.
(I let her make the decision.)
Rest in peace, Sydney! (Her horse's name.)
George Reeves
Cheetah the chimp from the Tarzan films turned out to be a big old fraud.
To add to the above, a book did come out in 2008, a tongue in cheek biography of Cheetah, after which the hoax was exposed.
Mr [D]e[a]d, of course. Harry Enfield revealed this one years ago

It's Mr. Ed. the 9 years gave it away. Apparently they used to give out animal acting awards. I understand the rouse. My 3 year old had a melt down when I switched his teddy bear for a new identical one so that I could wash the original.
@boredatwork you are fu**king awesome! I could not have said it better myself about trump! You r brilliant!
Charles Nelson Reilly
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Mr. Schnieder from the Monkees?
Lassie's gotta go home some time....
Wtf, lol, hat's intriguing one.
*that's*
This is Bela Lugosi. Don't remember the movies, but the studios had a stand in for him for years.
Maybe a Dracula movie.
Herman the Sturgeon!

Petey from the Little Rascals?
Dick Clark ftw

Texasrose - we're all entitled to our opinions, I guess, but nothing anyone's ever said on CDAN hurt me more that your comment, "If Mr Ed who gives a shit?? The horse just stood there." We're talking about Mr. Ed, texasrose, Mr. Ed! Is nothing sacred anymore???
Bruce Lee.
