Blind Item #8 - The A List Rapist/Celebrity Offspring

This writer/producer/showrunner is probably A list right now. This, despite one of his shows being canceled because of his behavior. Will he lose everything once this new story becomes public? He should, but Hollywood loves a winner more than anything and right now he has a winner and the studio wants a sequel. Lets see what they think of this. He is a celebrity offspring and as I have said, I have written about him previously. This though, tops all of what he has been accused of to date.

This happened when he was back in college. In college, he had a reputation as a racist. He referred to anyone Hispanic as brown, or brown people. He never held back on commenting on the size of women's breasts or their appearance. If someone had a heavy accent he would always tell them to learn to speak English. He yelled at professors and they couldn't do anything because his dad had given money to the school. All of that is bad enough, but one night he raped a woman. He did so at a party in a second story room. When he finished raping her, he took her clothes and threw them out the window. He then forced her to walk through the party downstairs without any clothes on after raping her. That woman was subjected to bullying and taunts for the rest of the time she remained at the university. She was the one bullied even though he raped her. She had an emotional and nervous breakdown because of the trauma he caused. He doesn't care. He has shown no willingness to change any of his behaviors and even though he has continued to be horrible to women, studios keep rewarding him because he makes them money. This has to stop.

  6. Max Landis, wtf???

  7. Was the Landis show "Dirk Gently"?

  8. I always hated Landis!!! Someone needs to pound his little snarky face and buzzed purple haircut to a bloody pulp using his checkered hipster converse sneakers he wears - then Chronicle it!

  9. Netflix hasn't officially said Max is not writing or a part of Bright 2, and their IMDB shows David Ayer as the writer. But, that may just be a temporary placeholder while they wait to see if Landis gets the Weinstein or Franco treatment.

  10. @Khaleesi Okay, thanks.

  11. And it makes me wonder what kind of effed up home he grew up in that he thinks all of this is OK.

  12. Bet he was also the Netflix exec mentioned in the Golden Globes blind yesterday where he said one actress probably tasted like "cotton candy" and another like "old cheese".

  13. A lot of people viewed Bright, but it's been panned in reviews, so I guess it's netflix's version of "people watched it (or started to watch it, but didn't finish), even though it's dreck." Somehow in netflix terms, this is a success, but this dude is garbage. Are people going to give this guy breaks once his dad inevitably passes? Or without John around to protect him or advocate for him, is Max just some other douchebag out there?

  14. I was warned about Max Landis years ago re: this exact story. Didn't listen, he assaulted me at a party, and one of his best friends started a smear campaign about me inside the exact circle I was trying to get work from/with. I hope they all fucking rot. This is way past overdue.

  15. I hope Landis gets repaid 10 fold for the pain he has inflicted. His dad too - still appalling that he skated on the Twilight Zone deaths that his gross disregard for safety caused. :(

Shame for the show, the whole cast of Dirk Gently was really good.

  16. Max Landis. Hope this POS meets karma head-on, tenfold.

Carriestar - I’m truly, truly sorry to hear that.

  17. Carriestar --- I'm so sorry this happened to you! I can't even begin to imagine the physical & mental anguish that human piece of garbage put you through. Sending lots of positive energy, good vibes & warm fuzzies your way.

  18. Time to start putting our social media to good use: comment, Tweet, email, telephone to say that we did not enjoy Dirk Gently or whatever and will not view anything produced by Max Landis.
I’d recommend not mentioning anything other than the publicised allegations: make it about the money. It’s the only thing boards and stockholders give a shit about.

Ok, I know the sequel is something else, but I think if we don’t make a fuss, who will?

  19. Maybe someone will hire someone to castrate him, and cut his eyes out. Killing seems to good for him.

  20. If he does get the boot from the industry, maybe he will turn to drugs and OD. It's not justice or fair to his victims/survivors, but at least he would be gone.
And I don't trust the industry, for obvious reasons. DC Comics had his Superman story removed from the holiday special - as if they knew Max would be publicly called out. They didn't mind the association until they feared the public finding out.

    1. I don't know, but it's hard for victims to come forward when it's non famous non rich assaulted. The fact that she made it out of the party is the best we can hope for in her situation.

Landis is 6’4” but he’s a lightweight. Why hasn’t anyone kicked his ass yet. My turds are bigger than Max.

  23. I think the only reason the "big story" hasn't broke on ML is because everyone is terrified of him (not his dad) and his toxic clique. I know I am. I was hearing BS about myself for many months after my last interaction with that group. I can guarantee you there are dozens and dozens of women with the same story as mine or much worse - like the one above. It seemed to me like a Regina George situation, where most people kinda hated/disliked him but didn't want to lose the benefits of being in his circle / lose access to the constant flow of new hot chicks. The amount of ass-kissing + obeying (despite him being a giant asshole) I saw in my brief time in that circle was something else.

  26. He needs to get the boot and he needs to get sued. It does not seem fair that he could walk away from it all and still be filthy rich. He needs to pay his victims. Why should he retire in luxury? POS.

  27. If I see this shitheel around town I am going to put my foot so far up his arse he’ll be shining my boot with his tongue. Psycophantic entourage of hangers-on or not. Unlike this little bitchbaby, I can take a beating as well as dish it out and I’m not afraid to take one either, especially to deliver a bit of karmic Justice. He’s on the list.

  29. @Bitters, you're spot-on about the insecurity. The RLM guys gave Chronicle a good review, and later Max flew to Milwaukee for a (unrelated) guest appearance on their bad movie review show. Then they panned American Ultra, and he showed up again to explain to everyone that you shouldn't blame the writer because the director can change whatever he wants and ruin a good script. As if every script writer doesn't have to deal with that. Insecure and desperate for attention, in both appearances.

The next time one of his movies came out, they said, "Also out this year was such-and-such, written by Max Landis!" Then they just kinda stared uncomfortably into space for about 15 seconds before moving on to another subject.

This is obviously Landis (I've read parts of the story Enty gives abive and about his racism/socipathy elsewhere online), but I don't buy Netflix bringing him back for Bright 2. They paid him $3.5m(!) for the script and it was reworked by Ayer and Will Smith, they don't need him for any sequels at all.

He's still not reappeared on Twitter despite previously farting out every thought he brews onto it. Meanwhile TJ Miller has been cheerily tweeting again since the new year, the prick

Horrendous to hear you've been subject to his behaviour (to put it mildly), Carrie. I hope he's exiled from entertainment and from female contact forever.

So many "what the fuhhhh" moments with these abusers, like Landis being commissioned to develop a Pepe Le Pew movie. Jeeziz

  33. I used to nominally defend the guy before I had my ear to the ground about all this stuff he's been up to. I figured he was a weirdo and had a big mouth and punchable face and stupid opinions, but an unlikeable awkward dip doesn't make a guy a monster. (At least I'd hope not, for my own sake, heh.) Things like what's in this blind, and and direct accusations from people he hurt like Carrie, and more people who will probably come forward soon? That does. That's what I get for buying into his own projected image.

The thing you have to know about a lot of his "supporters" are that they exist in a headspace where everything is in an us versus them context. If you're into dweeby stuff enough where you get invested in a guy like Max, there's a lot of action in bad faith on whatever side of the "culture war" you're on, but they like the side more that doesn't seem like the mean nannies who want you to put the toys back in the toy box.

A little bit of love and nuance a few years ago might've helped, but nobody really cares about Hollywood-style high school drama between gangly geeks, so they've been throwing a tantrum for the last three and a half years. Just ask yourself why the other entertainment industries that nerds love (comic books, video games, etc.) have been so quiet amidst the waves of abuse exposition, and if you think it's because nerds can't be petty, cruel or predatory... well, I think we all know a little better by now.

  37. >Max Landis
    >A list

Ok, Enty, you should really learn what an A-list actually is, if this is Max Landis that is.

I use to be a fan of Max Landis. I thought that he was pretty down to earth when it came to the screenwriting profession. I didn't even mind that he could've been an SJW. I also liked his appearance on RedLetterMedia. I was really disappointing that he turned out to be an abuser. Probably more than other celebs. Its was an open secret with other smaller people I knew about. In the end, he turned out to be another male feminist stereotype.

  40. I’m the only white resident in my building, and I often refer to my neighbors as « black » and « brown » and none of them has ever called me « racist » for it, and I’m surprised to hear it’s racist here. Even the building management asks me when I’m assaulted whether my attacker was « black or brown? »?

I’m in New York City. Are these terms considered racist elsewhere?

  42. Oh, fuck all of you. Max Landis? Are you all serious? Stop pretending his dad has any power in Hollywood, since The Twilight Zone accident, all his movies flopped and he has to wait 10 years to make another one that was also a flop. Nobody gives a shit about the Landis family. And most of Max's movies also flopped, his show wans't canceled because of his behaviour but because of low rating and was also canceled BEFORE the allegations. Stop with this nonsense.

  45. If this is indeed aimed at Max Landis, the post is an utter lie. I went to college with him. He was the only white guy in United Black Students. Very liberal in his politics, very anti-racism. And the idea that people would be silent about him treating a woman like that is absurd.
