Blind Item #5

This foreign born A- list actor has had his best success in television. He will tell you though that his drug and alcohol abuse issues that have plagued him for two decades are the result of a movie. A movie which starred two actors who are now above him on the list. Both, also foreign born. The subject of our blind though says he had to have sex with multiple men to land the part. Our actor says he was raped three times by one of the producers of the movie during filming and that he was told he would never work again if he said anything. That producer is a permanent A- list singer.

Just getting the worst guesses out of the way.

    Someone will still make them.

    And the Weinstein connection.

  9. Yes! I'm disappointed to hear that Stipe is this type of monster, but not completely shocked either.

    1. To be fair, you HAVEN’T heard that. Multiple guesses as to the identity of the producer/rapist don’t constitute a confirmation.

    2. Stipe has been in the blinds for some time now, though

    3. And they later turned out to be the wrong guesses once revealed

  10. There were rumours a few months ago that Stipe was going to be the next one to go down, but nothing ever came of it. If it IS him, I wonder how he got it to go away? I hope it eventually comes out, if ut IS him.

  12. I heard this rumor about John Rhys Meyers and Michael Stipe years ago. I think this, along with some of his other nefarious shenanigans are reasons why he keeps a relatively low profile these days.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So maybe the other two were victims as well.
Also this singer looks like he is HIV+, which makes the crime even worse.

    1. That is one of the most obtuse and prejudiced comments I've ever seen here. And that's saying a lot.

      Delete
  14. @sus: why would you say that Stipe “looks like he is HIV +”?? I looked at a recent photo of him and he looks pretty much the same as always, except he has a huge beard. Is it because he’s gay? HIV is not sexuality-specific. I’m sad if Stipe is the perpetrator in this blind, but I don’t see any reason to also assume he is HIV positive, just because he’s gay.

    1. +3, such a derogatory comment.

    2. No it's because he literally looks like he is hiv positive. Nothing derogatory, and not because he is gay. Calm your tits.

  15. sadly, i'm not surprised. the movie had a really uncomfortable vibe and Stipe has plenty of nasty rumors floating around about him. Poor Jonathan. He's a great actor, hopefully vikings will be a good move for him. The production team there seem to be really positive.

    Your comment is pure projection.

  20. Ugh, yep. Got those answers too without reading the comments.
Another (alleged) rapist could be director Todd Haynes.

  21. No way I’m going to believe this is Stipe or Haynes so bring on the reveal already...

  22. @ClintonKilledMe
Was that supposed to be some crazy pedo reveal or something? Because the boy doesn't say anything negative about the video shoot itself, and Stipe isn't mentioned. He just says he waa bullied at school after.

  24. I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers, but he has obviously been through a lot. I hope he is done working with horrible people.

  25. @Sus
    @Boldblonde

Stipe never looked healthy. He has always had terrible acne scars, some of the worst I've seen, on his face. His head always looked too big for his body and rather boney. He's been skinny since highschool.

What changed is Stipe went bald then shaved his head. That really brought out how weird he looks which you couldn't tell when he deliberately covered his face with his haire.

IDK about this blind, not buying it yet. Something of interest - REM fired their long time manager for sexually assaulting young girls at concerts and after.

  26. Michael Stype made my skin crawl when I was a music journalist in the 90s. And that weirdo connection with Cunty was certainly like two shrews plotting. #indict.courtney.love

  27. Looks like political correctness here, too. Just can't escape from the whining. I'm offended by snowflakes.

  28. The JRM/Stipe/Velvet Rope guess checks a lot of boxes. My only issue with it is JRM would have been around 20 at the time of filming and a strong young man. Stipe is very slight, and when I ran into him at a club, Stipe seemed to be only about 5' 9", if that. In other words, I can't see Stipe being able to physically intimidate JRM into sex (unless he had a gun or knife). I supposed Stipe could have used his power to intimidate JRM into having sex or drugged him or something.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Okay, if this BI is referring to JRM/Stipe/Velvet Rope, I'm going to go ahead and guess Sandy Stern (one of the producers on the movie) was someone he needed to casting couch with. You can look him up.

  30. I asked a few people who were in the Athens scene back in the day. None had heard stories along these lines about Stipe. You never know, I guess, but all thought it was unlikely, and they gossip pretty freely.

    1. Yeah this is why I doubt it too. I know someone who hooked up with him a couple of times and only had nice things to say. Apparently he was pretty devastated by the Jefferson Holt thing too. On am ethical level.

  31. When are these men who sexually harass other men going to be exposed? The media focus on women ignoring the fact there are men who are victims of sexual harassment. Society does NOT take it seriously when it involves males.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Orville You haven’t been paying attention then. It’s going to take the men who have been abused coming out and talking about it, enduring the assholes (also mostly men) who attack anyone who speaks up in #metoo, and sticking to their guns.

The few men who have come out in #metoo have received a lot of support and less name calling than the women continue to endure, at least from what I’ve seen.

Also, did you sleep through the implosion of Kevin Spacey’s career or something?

  32. I'm friends with a lot of gay people. A LOT LOT LOT of them have HIV and that includes the young ones. I live in NYC. Most, if not all of them, look as healthy as everyone due to advances in medication.

You can get all social justice-y about whether or not HIV/AIDS is a gay disease but at the end of the day, let me assure you a shit ton more gay Americans have it than straight Americans and THAT IS A FACT.

    Deal with it.

    1. @hunter We know the statistics. So what? All the women I know who have been raped (and there are a LOT) were raped by straight men. In fact, one in four women is likely to be raped in her lifetime. That’s an even higher rate amongst women than HIV amongst gay men! 😱

Should we then assume all straight men are probably rapists?

      No. We shouldn’t.

      Sheesh.

  33. FFS people saying Stipe is too skinny:
You don't have to be physically overpowering to rape someone. You can use intimidation, power, threats, and yes drugs as tactics.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The blind says "he will tell you". Is he planning on going public? Rhys Meyers has had several suicide attempts, not just drug and alcohol problems. Maybe he wants to be more public with his issues. I would guess drugs would be involved with the alleged rape, that wouldn't make it as difficult to believe.

    ReplyDelete
  35. It seems there are consistent blinds here about JRM so im gonna guess him. What the hell is wrong with people, producers, whoever in a position of power, raping minors? Granted ppl can justify alot, we've seen this with accused in the #metoo movement." It was consensual, the feelings were mutual, " no they Goddamn well werent and you fucking knew it every single second you sick bastard. Because you applied pressure, you said whatever you had to to get your way. Called in whatever favors you could. The whole thing was a stack of cards, the whole hierarchy from Harvey to frickin Charlie Rose, that one hurt. All it took was enough kamikaze bad ass women, Rose McGowan, to throw themselves into the fight to tumble the whole thing. My husbands friend whos a manager hit on his employee in the past and always felt guilty. He was rabid over #metoo, and mansplained " hows a guy supposed to know when its not cool?" I answered when its her job. When shes your employee.

  36. "No it's because he literally looks like he is hiv positive"

How do HIV positive people look?

Your assumptions are long outdated. Get over yourself.

  37. I loved Velvet Goldmine. Just saying.

  38. People are confusing HIV+ with its end of life phase ~ full blown AIDS. Think Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, or the images of the walking dead from the 80s. That is what I presume these people discussing Micheal Stipe’s appearance are referring to (and I agree...he absolutely looks like he has the full blown AIDS/antiviral cocktails no works no mo...but also agree he's looked that way for decades).

And yes the noodle armed twerp could very well rape men twice his size and ten times his strength, provided they were drugged. See: our most hated mogul DG.

Finally, HIV is far less a “gay (male) disease” and far more a promiscuity disease, as are most STDs/VDs. Men are much, much more promiscuous than women so of course their rates of infection are higher. 2 men (gay or otherwise) copulating increases that ratio mainly by having duh 2 males (2 of the higher promiscuity subjects vs lower promiscuity subjects ie females) in the scenario so the odds are vastly increased of getting the HIVeeez.

    ReplyDelete
  39. it's not that men are more promiscuous, it's the fact that heterosexual or lesbian sex is far less likely to transmit HIV/AIDS. however, when a person has anal sex, it almost always creates microscopic fissures in the anal region (i don't love having to say this), which creates an avenue for infection of/by blood. when there's a vagina involved, that's a lot less likely. the vag is made to stretch. the ass? not so much. so that's why gay men were at higher risk, the medical risk from their sex acts are also the ones with the most risk.

  40. I don’t believe that this is Michael Stipe.

  42. Holt had been trolling the REM concerts for years hunting for young lovelies. In that context, the band really couldn't do anything as so many girls wanted to be close to them using any means possible.

It was when Holt started harassing a worker at their office in Athens that they could no longer ignore it.

Holt was one of the best managers in the business. He truly took a janky Southern band and turned them into an international phenomenon while keeping their roots and personal lives protected. The things he did to protect Stipe, in particular, should be a lesson to other managers of bands.

No wonder his firing was difficult for REM. I will say that one reason REM came out so strongly and early against sexual harassment and abuse was extremely personal for them. They couldn't continue with Holt under those conditions.

    1. Do you think Stipe is the producer in this blind?

      Delete
    2. Care to elaborate on that last part? I heard the JH thing was pretty horrific for all involved. Holt tried to make it seem like theyd been planning to fire him for business reasons and were taking advantage of a rumor. But apparently the band were absolutely furious over it.

  43. There appear to be pictures of Stipe and JRM hanging out socially ( not just at events) as recently as a couple of years ago. They look friendly.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'll just say it was personal for REM, the anti-harassment position.

REM investigated Holt for months before they finally fired him. They really did not want to split with him, but the evidence was incontrovertible.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @FrenchGirl and Croft was later convicted of raping a teenage boy right? I mean, no matter what happened on the film set I'd say JRM has issues from way back. He also went to a Christian Brothers school ( from which he was expelled.) Try and find someone who went to a CBC in the 80s who wasn’t abused and you… Well you won’t.
