Blind Item #7

This former A+ list mostly movie actress who was really a very weak A+ lister is now A- or maybe even B+ list. She is an offspring and got a pretty good offer for a movie pulled because of some political comments she made which the producers think will be box office poison.

    1. I think Sandy has it. Kate went on record the other day saying she doesn’t support a ban on guns. In the current post-shooting climate that could be box office poison.

But then it depends on the movie, right?

  2. @sandybrook Yup. Kate’s comments about guns

  3. +1 Kate Hudson, she said something in favor of guns that may not be popular with some people.

  4. yeah, I just saw that. Def Kate.

  5. Yup that's why I picked her over Dakota. However she did say she's in favor of stronger gun control laws even if she said she believes in Americans right to be able to bear arms.

  6. I bet they just thought KATE was box office poison and were happy to blame it on the guns. lol. She IS. And she is so thirsty and sad (blinds like chasing Brad Pitt out of the country to make it look like they were dating, feeding stories etc) but she was good in ALMOST FAMOUS. She was okay for a few things she did. Problem is she needed early Mathew McConaughey to be her co-lead and that ain't happening again any time soon. : ) Hilarious to look at where they started out and now he is mr serious method actor and she is faux-dating Jonas brothers.

    1. The thing is, Almost Famous came out 18 years ago. Literally a generation of people has grown up since and doesn't attach much if any meaning to her promise in it.

    2. She was so great in that movie, just fabulous. And then ....... splat

  7. +1 kiki

Kate's career trajectory still puzzles me. She had the industry by the horns there for a moment and let it unravel.

Of course she's a gun supporter. Her dad Kurt is a Trump Libertarian (meaning totally devoid of any morality or standards.)

GFY. Kurt Russell is an amazing human being. He does a lot for first responders. So does a Bruce Willis. You don’t really expect everyone to think and feel just like you do, right? Like a child?

  8. Kurt isn’t her dad.

    1. Seriously? By who's standards (and no one gives a shit about your personal standards)? He's raised her and considers her his daughter, she considers him her Dad. How shitty to discount their relationship just because there's some sperm donor she's never met floating around out there.

  9. And plot is a raging Liberal...devoid of even a hint of intelect or common sense.

    ReplyDelete
  10. liberal/conservative or what have you, and that is all irrelevant, the way Kate was raised it does not surprise me that she supports the 2nd Amendment. Which is fine, within reason.

  11. Technically, Kurt isn't her biological father, but Bill Hudson did say "I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own. I would ask them to stop using the Hudson name. They are no longer a part of my life."

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Don, Bill has since reconciled to a point with Oliver. I don't think he's completely estranged from Kate.

  13. Hudson always seemed more interested in the trappings of fame than the work of an actor.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Kate as asserted over and over again that Kurt is her father and Bill Hudson is basically a stranger to her.

It's a bit of parental alienation going on there, since Goldie had to pay Bill alimony after they divorced which made her angry enough to keep the kids away from him.

  15. Kate only plays larger versions of herself. Her movies have not gone well. Her time is over. Stick to yoga pants, Kate.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Plenty of actors only play versions of themselves and are very successful for it. Kate could have done her Almost Famous charm for years worth of films.

I think tetsujin got it. Kate simply didn't want to work but loves being famous.

  17. Good for Kurt! But at the same time, as a Libertarian, he believes that we shouldn't have first responders or be taxed to support anything like their service.

Kurt and Bruce might say, okay, we are Libertarians who believe in taxes to go to first responders. Fine. But like every other Libertarian on the planet, they have their pet projects they believe are worth taxation. Libertarians are incapable of agreement on what they think taxes should support and what they don't. Which is what makes it an empty political philosophy and filled with Ayn Rand readers who think they understand EVERYTHING about social science, politics, economics, philosophy, warfare...from the reading of one book. It's a party of mental adolescents.

  18. Ugh. can't everyone just leave out the politics (even though the BI is political related). I liked Kate in Something Borrowed and Bride Wars.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I cant believe any father would say what Hudson said about his kids. Even most estranged families say "maybe one day we can grow close"

    ReplyDelete
  20. YOU are the first responder.

    Let that sink in.

    ReplyDelete
  21. well, good for her.

  22. If people like Kurt Russell are devoid of morality or standards, what do you call the rest of Hollywood? He is even the one who tried to smooth over the Hudson family fued. Do we get rapey stories about him? Beating Goldie? Nasty to coworkers? Haven't heard any of it. And he survived be a Hollywood child star. No mean feat.

    1. Put some respect on Kurt's name, ffs!! LOL

  23. Would anyone ever go up to adopted kids and tell them your parents aren't your parents? She considers Kurt her Dad, he considers her his daughter, that should be enough for any outsider judging their family.

I actually have a lot of respect for Kate, at least she says what she REALLY thinks instead of blowing smoke to pacify the masses. I'll take honesty over bullshit anyday whether I agree with it or not, especially in this business.

  24. Hoen she full well know hers dd. He was no sperm donor. At least read up on it if you are going to launch into a diatribe about it. It's nice she loves Kurt and he her but there is a lot to it and many sides from press stories.

    1. I don't need to read up on it, I've seen her talk about it herself. She's an adult and can make her own decisions, she's made them, who is anyone else to try and define her family for her?

  25. Hm, just saw Kurt Russell today in the Yorkdale neighborhood (rich) of Toronto. There was a an IceFest going on but he was just going into shops.
LOL: people said, "I recognized that homeless guy!" He is playing Santa in an upcoming Netflix movie and looks ragged.

  26. In the current post-shooting climate that could be box office poison.

Current Hollywood political climate. In the general US, gun control has never been popular, and mass shootings don't shift the percentages.

    ReplyDelete
  27. When Bill Hudson was married to Cindy Williams she ordered a massive gold bracelet for him from the importer/manufacturer I worked for. When I saw the order I sent it out to her just so someday I could say I shipped a gold bracelet to Cindy Williams and Mark Hudson.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I thought Kate Hudson gave up acting to sell yoga pants.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Phelps

You would be wrong. 70% of the country supports gun control -

    http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2018/02/two-new-polls-show-widespread-support-stricter-gun-laws.html

It's not just Hollywood. Face facts, dude.

  30. The caveat here is that such surges in opinion rarely last long.

And that's without even getting into the CNN crosstabs, which show that they oversampled Democrats and "Independents".

You'll want to delete that comment in about 3 weeks. These are the people who gave Hillary a 99.9% chance of winning all the way up to about 6pm on election day.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If you want to hear a really good interview about older Hollywood, find Gilbert Gottfried interviewing Kate Hudson's uncle. From thinking he was gonna get to bang Diana Ross to Led Zeppelin chasing Elton John around a party, trying to set him on fire. Some really good stories.

Gilbert's interview w/ Jethro Bodine was great also.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Phelps

And if you had read the whole article, you would find that even without this surge, the number is over 50%, even 47% among Republicans.

But don't let that interfere with your fantasies or Hillary obsession.

  33. What small-minded punitive idiots to yank a role just because the actress spoke in favor of the 2nd amendment! The same people who whinge endlessly about the McCarthy hearings and blacklistings turn around and do the exact same thing, and worse, to people who disagree with them ideologically. Progressive projection never ends.

  34. Her political choices are her political choices. 1/2 the country agrees, 1/2 doesn't. I personally wish ALL of Hollywood would keep their mouths shut with their opinions in either direction. the fact that Hollywood is a HUGE bully and threatens people to believe what they believe or you're blacklisted. Is that really any different than threatening someone to have sex to get a part, or you're blacklisted? Kate isn't a liberal. That's her political choice. Has nothing to do with her acting. Hollywood needs to shut it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "I personally wish ALL of Hollywood would keep their mouths shut with"

Unless they agree with you, right?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Nah, if the deal was "all or none" we'll take "all shut up."

    Shut up and act.

  37. Gotta be Kate- Kurt`s pro gun.

  38. I don’t care who it is. Good on them for bucking the crowd & staring an opinion.

  39. Hollywood should put their money where their sewer holes are and stop making any movies that involve a gun. Mystic Pizza XXVI...
