Blind Items Revealed #3

March 22, 2018

At this point, the network really doesn't have any choice but to play things out and hope they get better. They can't cancel the show because they will look like idiots and they can't fire the host they think is responsible because they owe him a ton of money and can't be sure he is 100% of the problem. The show's ratings are in the tank and at this point, it won't be back next year or forever.

Ryan Seacrest/American Idol

  2. Finally, get that shit off the air. AI should have been canceled years ago.

  3. AI had no business being revived in the first place. It was dead in the water when Fox cancelled it. Did ABC expect everyone to just jump right back in when nobody even GAF that it was gone? Plus you've got all these clones still running too that are a complete waste of time.

  4. ABC fell into the same trap as everyone else. It's not about the judges it's about the singers.

Fox lucked out with getting Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. That's what made AI special its first few years. When they tried to outshine the contestants with star power it lost it's magic.

As far as I know there are no breakout stars on the current version. Just run of the mill singers hoping for a shortcut to fame.

The only one who wins is the person who licensed it.

  5. Ryan is not responsible for the failure of this show. It was ded from the moment they thought about bringing it back. Nobody cares for this show since the departure of cowell. And to bring it back with katy perry...flop from the get go

  6. Ratings in the tank? I guess I'm missing something.

  7. They'll use Ryan as the scapegoat rather than own their mistake of bringing the show back.

Those shows have never been about the singers, always about the judges.

  9. Should have been cancelled a LOOOOOONNNNNGGGG time ago.

  10. Seacrest is not the problem. He's barely even on the show.

  11. Not Seacrest's fault. Katie Perry is a disaster and the other two boring.

  12. Reality tv sucks. It just does.
But at this point, ABC should go all in on AI. Drive it like the Bluesmobile. If it's a garbage fire, just add more fuel. Give Perry more coke and booze, make sure all the judges are loaded, have Seacrest host in drag, get crazier contestants and dubious guest celebrities. If they're going to cancel Idol anyway, why not push it to the limit until the doors fall off. Americans love trash and will tune in so they don't miss the next wreck, just like Nascar.

  13. I can't believe anybody at ABC actually thought this had a chance of being successful. And I really can't believe that enough of them thought that way that the show actually got produced, especially with the salaries that they are having to pay the judges and Ryan. And I really, really can't believe that Katy Perry, with the stench of failure surrounding her from her last album, would jump into another project with an even bigger stench of failure that could be seen from miles away. She could have made whatever ABC is paying her by adding a few more countries to her tour, if she wanted the money that badly.

  14. I actually like all 3 of the judges. I love Lionel Richie and Katie Perry. Luke Bryan is growing on me.

  16. Or at least don't put it up against The Voice during their blind auditions and battle rounds - I usually fade off when the battle rounds are over.....

  17. Katy Perry is poison, at this point. And the way she behaved so pervy with that teenage contestant a few weeks ago --- who would want to watch her? Is she medicated?

  18. One problem is that any singer with real talent realizes it's a dead end "opportunity" and a slavery contract, so there's not many great contestants coming into the funnel.

Along with all the above mentioned factors...

Simon was really the star/motor of the thing.

  19. I hate all of those talent shows for ruining "Hallelujah".

  20. Good. I hate American Idol! That show singlehandedly ruined music. Goodbye and good riddance and stay gone this time!

  21. Katy tanked the ratings, not Ryan.

  22. I have watched several clips. Aside from the allegations against Ryan, from my POV, what's hurting the show is the now overly-produced editing style and Katy. I like Katy as a singer, but, she is acting way zany, even for her. It's just not a good look.
