This network show recently got picked up from a pilot. The lead actress was told she wasn't going to be part of the series because of several reasons but it is mainly because the network thought she was too old. They want someone a few decades younger who will sometimes get half naked. The lead actor quit the show in solidarity with his co-star.

ReplyDeleteAm I supposed to be outraged? It's showbiz, yes the producers want a young actress with a good bod to get naked, sex sells. Having someone who's old and saggy isn't going to give me a hard on, so I'm not going to tune in. Sorvino was given a pilot gig, she should act like a fucking professional and accept job done, pick up her check and move on to the next thing. The producers owed her jack shit, but being a white woman she's of course super entitled. As for the cuck white knighting, what a loser.

ReplyDeleteOr maybe since Mira wasn't the female lead she wanted too much money for a co-starring role and they told her to fuck off? In any case it's not strange for pilots that get picked up to be recast with names more favorable to tv roles or the role gets re-written completely.
ReplyDeleteI've had a crush on Dave Annabel since Brothers and Sisters, which just exploded 10 fold. I've been routing for Sorvino to make a comeback, particularly in light of the Weinstein stuff. Feeling sad for her. She shouldn't have to take her clothes off on camera to be employable.

DeleteCBS recast at least three shows that they picked up. I suspect the younger/nuder cause is just a gossip site trying to attract comment. The bulk of recasting is because the actors were signed without reading etc . In other words the competition for talent in the upfront cycle is so intense they go straight to offers with "names". When they show the pilot and get reactions they realize there are more appropriate choices.

Mira is a very talented actress as well as beautiful and accomplished. I commend Dave Annable for his support as he is also a revered actor.

ReplyDeleteI've got some sympathy for Sorvino because Weinstein sabotaged her career. She really deserves at least some kind of financial settlement from that.

Hope Annable is a good guy but I don't think you can ignore him looking out for his own interests. Chemistry is everything, so if he and Mira have it, then he should sell it hard to network as a team/duo. Otherwise, he stands to be replaced along with Mira.

And like 99% of the actresses out there, sorvino would strip for a role.
i think its more, the cbs suits think their viewers dont want to see an middle-aged/old lady in a potential semi- romantic lead role and want to play it safe with a younger woman.

Said it once on here and I'll say it again: MS is a horrible person to be on the same set with. Horrible to crew and co-stars. I can't see how she would manage a TV filming schedule when being on a film set with her was a living nightmare for many!
