If you think about someone like Victoria Justice and how she went from work to no work, it is more about bad luck and just making some wrong decisions. You do get the sense she will be back though. One person though, who will probably not be making any time of comeback is this former A-/B+ list mostly movie actress who has been acting since childhood. I'm sure all of you know her name even if you can't pick her out of a lineup. She has some big hits to her name. Anyway, in the last three or four years, she managed to have affairs with two or three of the top money people in Hollywood. The wives found out about this and the word was sent out to not hire her for anything. I know, I know, the husbands should be just as much to blame, and that is where we get into part two of this. All of that pillow talk about very bad guys in Hollywood and what they have done to women, she passed along to anyone who would get it out to the media. So, basically she is double cursed right now. The only work she gets is slightly better than diet tea and it is only because she has language skills and can do some modeling and commercial work out of the country.
Eliza Dushku? Is she getting any work?

@sandybrook - I'm from Boston and so is Eliza. A few of my friends did some small-time videography and production work back in the day and had the chance to meet her when a local charity hired her for talent and my friends to do the producing. They said she was a super sweet gal and when they picked her up at her house, she was hungover from the night before but was making light of it and not a diva at all. I know she has a bad rap after the Rick Fox debacle, but insiders said she was awesome and a pleasure to work with.

ReplyDelete@plot - I think Enty was trying to make the point that some, like Victoria, don't get parts due to external factors like bad role choices or bad management advising them incorrectly, whereas whomever this blind is about screwed the wrong men (wrong because they were married) and shot herself in the foot. Perhaps if she didn't do that, she'd still be working.

I think Sara could be on to something with Michelle Trachtenberg.
Maybe it was also was to get us thinking about someone roughly her age (not back in the day) &/or a Nickelodeon star, which is why I thought Michelle. But I could be wrong about that.

ReplyDeleteTrachtenberg is a regular (voice) on Robot Chicken, but she is known mostly for her TV work, not movies.
She only did a couple of episodes the 1st season with the possibility of becoming recurring, but was not asked back for season 2.

ReplyDeleteHailee Steinfeld was the next big thing for a while, and her career has totally stalled out in the past few years, she has been just doing the pitch perfect franchise and a bunch of video shorts, although she has a completed movie coming out, nothing else in production
She also said on Twitter that she speaks spanish.
@Gauloise...Steinfeld is in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee. That's...sort of a big project.
ReplyDeleteMika Boreem has a huge gap in her credits. Her last full length film was in 2012, only really did shorts and a segment of an anthology horror film since. Has one, seems to be low budget, film in post for 2018, but that's it.
I don't see Hailee Steinfeld having affairs with "with two or three of the top money people in Hollywood," has anyone heard any different?

ReplyDeleteHailee should have had her 2nd best actress nom for The Edge of Seventeen and she was Iin the last two Pitch movies. Plus she is in thew new transformers movie and has a successful singing career. Her career has not stalled.

Oh, and the "diet tea" comment is a reference to Snapple. Her father at one time owned Snapple and turned the company around before selling it to Cadbury-Schweppes.
