I can't ever remember this organization really pushing its members via planted news stories to get someone nominated. It just doesn't happen. Ever. They just really want to take advantage of the publicity this B+ list actress would generate if nominated. If she isn't nominated, they want to give her a honorary award. It really makes them look ridiculous. She is a B+ list actress for a reason.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Elizabeth Moss "is B+ for a reason." She's an excellent actress, the $cio stuff notwithstanding. I hope everyone has seen "Top of the Lake," which is better and more nuanced than "Handmaid's Tale."
ReplyDeleteSeems crazy to think MM stands the slightest chance of getting an Emmy nomination or any kind of nomination anywhere for "Suits." She's not a B+ actress and she's an A+ celebrity. So not her.
Either Kelly Preston or someone not yet suggested. The Jenna Elfman thing is intriguing, but I didn't even know was in that bad show so she must not have gotten much buzz out of it.
+1, Elisabeth Moss is a great actress. I disagree with her believes but she can act and act without even speaking. At least her face can move unlike many other actresses!

It's unethical, but not surprising.
The organization is the Emmy's. Meghan Markle and other Suits actors have (reportedly) had performances submitted for consideration for nomination. She is by no measure an Emmy worthy actress, but the Emmy group would score big if Prince Harry and his bejeweled Duchess Megs were in the house.
ReplyDeleteIt can't be Moss who has clearly established herself as a solid true actress - MAD MEN, HANDMAID'S TALE etc. Now Markle getting an Emmy would be a stretch. Not a series or role worthy of it in the least. THT has already garnered awards and accolades left and right and is considered SERIOUS tv. Politic, intense, deep. SUITS would be way out of left field as an actress nomination.

The Emmys nominated Barb from Stranger Things last year, and Ellen Burstyn for a 14 second performance several years ago. It would be ridiculous if Markle is nominated. Supporting actress in a drama is the most competitive category and it would be unfair for her to beat out someone far more deserving.

ReplyDeleteIf this is about the Emmys trying to get Markle nominated, well then they are truly making themselves into a joke. It's absolutely ridiculous to nominate someone who wouldn't have had a shot in hell at an Emmy (or any big award) until they married someone famous.
