While this one named permanent A+++ list entertainer keeps saying she'll never retire, she is going to scale back her workload over the next year or so. Yes she's got a new album ready to be released, but I'm hearing whispers that the arena tour that will accompany the album might be her last one and she'll only be doing smaller venues after that.

ReplyDeleteIf it is Cher, she has been going on farewell tours since the 1990s or so (I remember when Believe was supposed to be buh-bye). Does that ever stop or is it like the entertainment business version of the always going out of business sale certain retailers hold?

ReplyDeleteAnyone who thinks Cher introduced auto-tune wasn't listening to Shania Twain a few years earlier in the '90s. I'm sure she was nowhere near the first to use it, but she made it famous, trust. Maybe Cher made it mandatory.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, the inflation in the A+ grade ratings is fair to me here, especially for Madonna. Considering how much faster "stars" shine and burnout nowadays, as well as how many more stars there are hogging headlines, often times for no legitimate reason or for possessing mediocre talent at best, Madonna and even Chers longevity is looking pretty fucking impressive nowadays.

ReplyDelete@autotune - Cher was the first major singer to use it as an effect that you could hear. The producer wanted it to sound like that. Everybody before used to hide its use as much as they could.
